Comments to the scenario Weltkrieg

The scenario shows the situation in 1939 just before the german attack of Poland.
The French and British (USA) are allied so that a german attack of one of these
countries causes a "worldwar" which cannot be stopped. Playing the German or the English side is expected.

When you play the Germans, attack Poland and France to get the big cities to get more production. You will need it. In the beginning, Russia is weak with bad units. But as time goes by, Russia gets more and more better and cheaper units. Sooner or later Russia will launch an attack. So attack France and Poland to get more production and after building enough units go east......

Italy will be a help against France (they are already at war with France).
The only problem will be England and the US......they will come........

Playing England, I would say just wait and build better units. You cannot really 
help Poland or France because Germany is too strong. Start your war in Africa and
get rid of the Germans and Italians. You only can disturb the Germans in Europe but not
really fight with them. Concentrate on the Italians and eliminate the german submarines
and their fleet. Together with the Americans start some small assaults in Europe.
When you have your first Lancaster long distance bomber and Hawker Typhoons the war
in Europe can start. But watch out the germans jets..........

A very important point is trade. For the human player of England and Germany there are only a few trade routes. You will have to establish trade routes first. That is easy when you are
not at war. If you start war in the first round, things will get more difficult. So the
whole game is getting a little bit more difficult.

Some things are not very realistic e.g. France and Italy are already at war, some locations
of cities are wrong (USA), USA/GB and Russia are not Allies, etc. But the game gets more
interesting.

Finland (Barbarians) will be attacked by Russia and England soon. Also not very realistic.
As there are only 8 nations possible all scandinavians were shown as Fins. Sorry to the Norwegians, Swedish and Danish people, etc.

Attacking the Neutrals will not immediately cause an attack of France and England.
They will only attack when Gdynia is captured.

The Europeans and France/GB/USA are not allied.

Negotiations are not possible.

If you play the British/USA take the GB_US event file.




Problems of the scenario:

It is totally written in German and the special german letters can cause problems.
 


Graphics:
---------

Nearly all unit, terrain and icon graphics were taken from other scenarios and were not
created by myself. Due to the huge amount of designers, the designers are not
mentioned. Sorry about that. But thanks to Captain Nemo, Tanelorm and others.


Which nation should be taken:
-----------------------------

Germany (should be played)
Italy (difficult, due to lack of good units at the end)
England (comparable with Germany)
USA (easy due to good units and the huge distance to the battlefield)
Russia (not to be played beacuse for a human player its is too strong)
France (could be played but they only have few and weak units)
Europeans (not to be played)


Techtrees:
----------

Only Germany and England have a suitable tech tree....
For the Americans Jet engine is useless.....


Negotiations:
-------------

There are no negotiations possible between all countries.


Units:
------

-Ships, especially battleships and carriers are very expensive, so be careful.
-Battleships can only be build by Germany, Italy, France, GB and USA. 
-Tac Bomber of the Europeans can attack other planes.
-Only destroyers, Tac Bombers and Bombers can spot submarines.
-German units are getting more expensive to simulate the lack of raw materials.
-Swordfish and FW 200 can only attack ships.
-English ships have more range than others.
-There are no "settlers" to create new cities, roads, etc.
-French units are rather expensive to reduce the amount of french units and to
 make it easier for Germany/Italy to conquer France. That was necessary because the
 Americans will not land near french cities (allied) but only near german and italian
 cities. So you only will have a DDay when nearly total France is conquered by axis troops.



Locations:
----------

Some locations (cities) are not very realistic. Stockholm, Oslo, Kristiansand belongs to Finland. Please forgive me. I know that they belong to Norway, Sweden, ....... But I needed
a scandinavian country which is attacked by Russia.

Than the USA. It was very late in the night and the american locations/cities are more or less all wrong, But I did not have the time to change it........

Russia, of course some locations/cities are wrong.


Solution: Please gimme the correct names......



Wonders:
--------

There are no wonders left to be build.
Lend Lease Plan 1941 is not very realistic in 1939......


Others:
-------

If a freighter is killed of the USA/England by the Germans/Italians the Germans/Italians
will gain 250 gold pieces. The USA/England have to pay 250 gold pieces.

If the Germans invade Paris, Moskau, London, ..... they will gain extra gold.
(1.000 bis 5.000).


Trade:
------

Before the human player (England, USA or Germany) start war, more trade routes should be established to receive a good science/trade/taxes relation because there are only a few.
So first trade and then start war.....



Conclusion:
-----------

I created only a nice scenario for civ2. That was my intention. The graphics should be ok
and playing should make fun. Furthermore it should be some kind of a historical scenario. That does not mean that all should be 100% correct (army locations, streets, railroads, attack rates,....). I tried to balance the units with attack rates, defense rates, range and so on. Of course real bugs or mistakes should be corrected (city names, locations, wrong units).



Events:
-------

There are only a few events, sinking of freighters and subs, capture of cities and so on. 90% of the events are sound based with historical sounds. Capture of Paris, sinking of Hood, 
Stalingrad, Battle of England, end of war in Africa, capture of Rome, capture of Berlin and many many more. The problem is total sound files for events are up to 9 MB.



Tech tree:
----------
There is only a small tech tree which need to be changed I think.
