MapStat V3 Windows Readme.
This utility for the Civilization III (tm) game offers the following:

Track your domination victory* progress:
MapStat can compile the map and population information of a CivIII save game. With this information, it displays precisely how many more tiles and city population each Civ needs to trigger a domination victory. Numbers may also be displayed in percentages.

Export your city statistics:
After opening a .sav file, you can export your city statistics (same information as the domestic advisor "F1" screen) to a tab-separated file spreadsheet programs can read. Exported stats include for each city the Population, Food Surplus, Production, Waste, Commerce, Corruption, Treasury and Science contributions (including specialists), and Luxury taxes spent. The totals are also summed and shown.

Gather map terrain Statistics:
The total terrain count details are also viewable for .sav files by selecting "View Terrain Counts" in the "File" menu. BIC map files are also compatible with MapStat. No Civ owns territory in a BIC map file but you can view the terrain statistics.

*Domination victory is triggered by owning greater than 2/3 of the total world's land+coast and total world's population at the beginning of your next turn (see FAQ for more information).

There are two versions of MapStat: Windows and Java. The windows version is the latest version and is recommended for all Windows users. The Java program is necessary for Mac users and is much simpler, but is also executable for windows users with a Java run-time environment installed.

Here are the instructions:
- The program is executable and will start in a new window. Open/Execute the program. If the "Explorer Integration" is enabled, you can quickly start or open a new .sav or .bic file using the right-click menu in windows explorer.

Note, after using MapStat with the "Explorer Integration", you may not be able to use this quick feature again if you change the location of the MapStat executable. To re-enable the "Explorer Integration" after moving the executable, you have 3 options:
- Re-toggle the "Enable Explorer Integration" option in MapStat.
- Upon using the MapStat right-click menu and while the file is not found, locate the executable's new directory using the file browser that pops up.
- Move the MapStat.exe file back to where it was before.

To analyze the map:
- Select File-> Open & select your .bic or .sav file. The program will automatically analyze the file and display the domination tile and population statistics.
- If you have selected a SAV file, select which Civ's statistics you would like to view by changing the selection in the bottom combo box.

Options:
FILE Menu
"Open Newest" - Opens your most recent .sav file automatically.
"Recalculate" - Re-analyzes your opened file.
"View Terrain Counts" - Opens a new window with the breakdown of the territory selected in the bottom "Civilization" combo box. This window opens automatically for a .bic file. Use "Ctrl-Tab" to switch between windows with your keyboard.
"Export City Stats" - Opens a save file dialog to write your city data into a file. Write in a new file name and press save to export it. The exported file has ten columns: City (name), Population, Food Surplus, Production, Waste, Commerce, Corruption, Treasury (contribution), Science (contribution), and Lux Tax (spent).

OPTIONS Menu
"View as Percentages" - Toggles all numbers to percentages of the total. This is only available for .sav files.
"Open after Exporting" - By checking this option, after the user has exported a file, it is automatically opened.
"Save Settings" - Saves the options between MapStat sessions.
"Enable Explorer Integration" - Adds a "MapStat" entry to the right-click menu in windows explorer for .sav and .bic files. Toggling this option off removes the MapStat entry from the menu.

Where did the Windows version come from?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fellow CivFanatic Lovro re-wrote the MapStat Java program so people could easily use it on Windows platforms. Questions for the windows version should be posted in the CivFanatcs fora for him to answer as well.

How did you know the domination limit?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was the result of testing by many people from the CivFanatics community. Many thanks to Aeson and SirPleb, among others, for their valuable contributions.
