Slow Loading!

Is there some new reason why it's taking over 2 minutes to load a thread that should usually take about 10 seconds?

Every time I turn around there is some new problem with this site.

If this continues, I won't be coming here anymore.

Spyware, porno popups, crashes when loading . . .

What's next? Can't you people keep this site even partly functional?

As for page loading times, I don't know... Loads fast for me: 0.851 seconds for this one.

Well, if anyone is interested, I took a look at some of the other threads in this forum, especially the ones talking about spyware. Here is what happened; I found and downloaded the Spybot software. Installed and ran it. Found numerous little monsters and eliminated them.

NOW, suddenly, the slow loading time I encountered is gone. Loading time has returned to normal speed. I don't claim to know the why but I damn sure can point out the how and what.

Dan, your advertisers are playing fast and loose with you, and annoying the **********. out of me! If I have to run a damn spybot scan everytime I come onsite, I sure will stop coming here. BET ON IT.

I also noticed that, after loading several threads on ACS forums, it started to slow down again! It pauses just when the ads appear! Coincidence? I think not. Now I'll probably have to run another scan just to see if another one of these little bastards has been unknowingly dled onto my HD without my permission.

Who the hell makes this damn **********.??!!?? They should be shot! Or at least prosecuted.

Just wanted to point out that I take it as an insult that you called me an OTer (or at least so I interpret the "all you OTers" statement). I, for one, almost never post in the OT, and in my post wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything, but just pointed out that the problem you were experiencing didn't manifest itself for everybody.

That's funny, I post on topic in several places, generally the Civ3 fora but occassionally the GC, RoN and MoO3 and I don't think I've seen you before.

Calm down...so you won't have to run a checker after every webpage, you can get Mozilla at http://www.mozilla.org. It's a free web browser that doesn't support ActiveX scripts, the way those little demons get onto your computer (unless they come with another program etc.).
