  • Should I worry about my health due to my diet?

Since I was able to eat solid food, my daily diet has been made up of almost nothing but cereal, plain bologna sandwiches (white bread with bologna on it), peanut butter sandwiches (sometimes jelly), hotdogs (with white bread), vienna sausages, hot pockets, mcdonalds' cheeseburgers but also other fast food from pizza or chinese take-out, ramon noodles... and thats about it.

will 17 or so years of this (and more for the next several years) have any real effect on my health or are the health nuts bull****ing and i shouldn't worry?

I have to admit I eat pretty ****ty stuff too. But as long as you take time out before every meal to hope for the best you should be okay.

In all honesty, it is probably a good idea to change our junk-eating ways to eating more vegetables, canned pears, and so on.

When you get older you should consider changing your diet. I eat more healthy things now.. well I always have... I am pretty much on a mediterranean diet.

Um, I would certainly suggest eating more wheat bread - has more nutrients. Try to get more fresh fruit and vegetables, and for God's sake cut down on the fast food diet.

For sandwich meat, I would suggest buying it from the deli section, rather than the pre-packaged stuff. Vienna sausages and hot pockets can't be that great for you, either, but I can't see them as being that harmful.

My biggest two suggestions would be to eat fast food not more than once a week, max, and get as much fresh fruit and vegetables (not canned, fresh) as you can.

Do you like hummus Fez? It's more of a middle-eastern food, but it is considered mediterranean in some circles.

I used to eat tons of ice cream - I'd go through half a gallon a day, sometimes. I cut that out, though. It wasn't making me gain any weight, as I have a very high metabolism, but I knew it wasn't healthy.

I try to eat fresh fruit every day, and often times I'll get a salad along with dinner at whichever restaurant I go to. Caesar salads are good stuff, especially w/ chicken

Of course, this healthy eating is more than made up for by vast amounts of beef, pizza, and beer

Oh, one other eating quirk that I have is that I WILL NOT add salt to anything. Nothing. I don't even use it to cook. I always grew up using salt substitutes, and that's stuck with me for some reason.

Good call Fez, there's a great little place here in Wichita called Cafe Istanbul, it's one of my favorite spots, great food. Just last week Kurt Russel and Harrison Ford were even sighted there.

My favorite middle eastern food is from Morocco or Lebanon... there was this Moroccan restaurant I went to in Spain that was fantastic... so many exotic spices and everything.

I'm on an ultra low carbohydrate diet right now. Normally though I don't eat much meat and I avoid the fatty varieties. The hardest part about doing atkins is not eating fruit. I used to love to just hang out in front of the tube and snack on oranges or grapes.

                              AS,

Canned fruit is OK, but again, fresh fruit is much better for you. Next time you go to the store, try buying enough apples, or pears, or whatever, to have one every day.

Mandarin oranges are pretty good, though.
