Sandbox doesn't have that premium time this year, so they say.

Early? Hell yes! That's ok. Yahoo has just opened with their league. And since Sandbox and CBS have become pay sites, I think that is our best bet. I wanted to start a thread to talk about the league.
I'm thinking of an offline draft like we did for baseball.

Sandbox would be nice if they've dropped the crap. And a slow draft vs be on line or die would be nice too.

Speaking of FFL, where has reismark been lately?

I agree, last year I wasn't able to be online for the draft. The computer picked Jake Plummer for me.Originally posted by Ming

I'm still here. Maybe this year I'll actually have TIME to play... (especially if it's an offline draft).

Yeah. I think fantasy baseball taught Imran the importance of being somewhat timely on making your slow draft pick.
DIDN'T it, Imran?![]()

Fantasy football uber alles!!!
last year in my yahoo league the guy who had the computer pick his team won...

cool, i'm a fantasy league fanatic now

i just lost my lead to a person who had computer chosen team. The thing is, everyone in our league has had trouble with the 1,2,3rd round picks... vlad, schilling, johnson, pedro... etc except him. i cant believe the amount of luck this guys been having. and he made plenty of dumb trades with me too. Are we totally sure on this? Their 'plus' features sucked ass and basically made the game a premium game.
Yeah. I think fantasy baseball taught Imran the importance of being somewhat timely on making your slow draft pick.
Naw... you have all your time to make the pick. But if you drop off the face of Earth, we reserve the right to have to the computer pick for you.
If we do a slow live draft we gotta start on August 1st or before. NO LATER! I've already set up the bare bones of a league... we should decide who's in, who's out and when this show is on the road.

maybe this year my vacation won't interfere too much...and after two years in a row of easy random leagues wins, I need a more competitive field to crush![]()

Sloth:
Oh, and this year a 'Cannot CUT List'. Basically this is a constantly updating list of stars that teams cannot cut. This is to prevent teams at the lower end of the league from cutting a star to mess things up. Of course, if a star gets injured he'll be taken off the list.
Yahoo... doing some really good things to their game, AND keeping it free!
My next post will give the league rules, and we can discuss them.

I like to try this, too, though I 've never done fantasy stuff.
It'll keep my mind off the Lions grinding another coach into oblivion this season.![]()

Ah, you and Guyenmer will have stuff to talk about. He's a Lions fan as well.
So who else wants in?
Here is the rules:
Start Scoring in Week: Week 1 (Sept 2-8)
Maximum Number of Teams: 10
Maximum Moves: No maximum
Maximum Trades: No maximum
Scoring Type: Head-to-Head League
Waiver Time: 2
Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules
Last Trade Date: November 14

Playoffs: Week 15 and 16 (4 teams)
Bye Points: Yes
Fractional Points: No
Negative Points: Yes
Starting Positions: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF, Bench, Bench, Bench, Bench, Bench, Bench
Statistical Categories (Offense):
Passing Yards (50 yards per point)

Those are all default rules, except I added 'Offensive Receptions' and 'Defensive Return TDs' as points generating stats.
As for playoffs there are 4 different options:
1) Week 15 & 16 (4 teams & 4 consolation)
2) Week 16 & 17 (4 teams & 4 consolation)
3) Week 14, 15 & 16 (8 teams)
4 Week 15, 16 & 17 (8 teams)
Now, the reason the weeks are different is because many choose not to play fantasy football in the last week of the season because many pro teams don't play their stars in those games.
As for 'consolation', in playoffs 1 & 2, there is a 4 team playoff for #1, then there is a 4 team consolation playoff (basically for #5). An 8 team playoff takes an extra week, but is for 8 teams vying for #1.
I took #1, playoffs not counting Week 17 and 4 team playoff with a consolation bracket.
Suggestions?

Why not go with individual players on defense instead of teams?

Imran's right. It's easier to manage defense in teams than in players... unless, of course, all your defensive players are members of the WORLD CHAMPION Tampa Bay Buccaneers.![]()

So you are telling me you'd rather have all Bucs defensive players, instead of the All-Pros of every other team? Even you aren't that dogmatic.

So does anyone have any other objections to the score keeping, playoff structure, etc, etc.?

Also, see how many leagues we can get, divided by the number of responses.

#2 11-20

Picking team defenses is for wimps. It's much harder and takes more skill to put together a defense on your own. It also makes the draft more interesting.
