Some of you may be familiar with Fred Phelps, leader of the Westboro Baptist Church. He is a hate leader who goes around the country preaching hate against homosexuals, even going to the extent of picketing funerals of homosexuals. He runs the website www.godhatesfags.com Recently he participated in a debated with some theologian known as John Ranking. I don't want to name names in terms of horrible debaters we have had on Apolyton, but Phelps dwarfs them all in this debate

Being the only apolytoner from Topeka, the home town of Fred Phelps and his gang, they've picketed the funerals of anyone who died under "mysterious" circumstances, i.e., if there is even a hint of AIDS being involved, they'd be out there shouting at the people attending the funeral. I'm quite familar with these people. They threaten lawsuits all the time whenever the city tries to prevent them from harassing people. They've stood on street corners blocking people from leaving the street via the crosswalk. One of their horde literally followed an elderly woman across a local university campus calling her names like, "Jezebel", because she wore make up. They'll picket other churches, they picket politicians and bureaucrats, including the head sheriff, they're almost always out picketing someone or something... To quote Jesus...

I'd like to see how Fred Phelps and his zombies would picket the funeral of a young, but prominent, NRA member who died under "mysterious" circumstances that weren't well-publicized.

There have been people who've taken them to task, but one person doesn't stand a chance against the horde. btw, did you guys check the other debates? The one about "Does It make sense to be an Atheist" is very good. Not mindless rantings but actually a very intelligent debate. The guy who argued with Fred in the first debate is defending the religious side.

Anyway, this guy's supposed to picket the Harvard Law commencement because a speaker is saying something or other about gay rights. At any rate, a group of us wanna go counter-picket them. If anyone saw the Laramie Project, we wanted to all get wings and surround them. But when we surround them, we'd dip down so no one could see what we were doing under the wings, and beat the crap outta em. If anyone wants to come, you're all welcome, it's Harvard Law, pretty hard to miss. Not sure about the date, but it'd be a nice reunion we could all unite for. At least we can unite against a common enemy sometimes lol
