Civ 3 Installation problem

Trying to install the UK version of Civ 3 on a Compaq Athlon 2200, XP home version i get the following error message..

"failed to open dsetup.dll
error0x80040702
failed to load dll:dsetup"

I've looked on the installshield webpage and the microsoft pages and couldn't find anything obvious that matched the problem.

Works fine on my W98 PC so i figure its something to do with XP. Other games have had no installation problems on the same PC.

any thoughts ?

Authentic copy of Civ III?

Very much so. (and authentic XP).

It's not an XP problem, the game is fully compatible with that OS. I did encounter a problem once, with another program, that indicated the InstallShield sub-routines on the system were obsolete. I'm not sure how you would check that though, I simply skipped the one that was giving me the problem and the next program I installed updated everything for me.

Have you updated your OS at all? There's at least one service pack out, and I heard another is on it's way.
