Sick The Kremlin: Wonder, or Wonders?

I was considering the lack of Russian wonders, and though of using the Kremlin as one. While doing a bit of research, I realized I could easily pull several wonders out of it -- the Arsenal, Red Square, and any or all of the palaces and cathedrals.

I would like to know, from those more familiar with it than I what they would make of it. Also, any other candidates for Russian wonders would be appreciated.

How about The Heremitage (aka Winter Palace) from St. Petersburg? Propably the most expensive building in the world (when interior decors and properties are included).

I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

That would do nicely as an alternate Forbidden!

You could also have the Trans-Siberian Railroad.

The Bol'shoi Theater (representing Russian cultural contributions), Hermitage, and Trans-Siberian RR are excellent suggestions.

In the area of science and technology, how about Sputnik?

The Kremlin wouldn't necessarily give an advantage to a Communist government, since it predates the Communist era by centuries. It would be a military-enhancing wonder. The Russian word means "fortress," BTW.

Tatilla, I think you are talking about the Amber Room (the Finnish word means amber, doesn't it?) It was decorated with amber mosaics and presented to Russia by Germany in the 18th (?) Century. Then it was stolen by the Germans during WWII and presumed lost, not at sea, but later. It is being recreated by the Russians with funding from Germany, I think. For a while it was a favorite topic for Russians: a source of numerous conspiracy theories, mystery and spy novels, etc. The work may be finished by now.

A quick Google search yielded the following image, probably from the re-created room (which was apparently finished in 1999):

"Sakharov's Papers" Adds to science and culture, but also adds to unrest if the government is Communist.

There definitely should be something from the Soviet/Russian space program in there.

Hmmm, maybe something to represent Russian contributions to literature? They've also had more than their share of significant symphony composers, but there are already plenty of wonders related to that in game. (Aside: why does Bach rate a wonder before any of the other composers?)

Oh, and I'd like to add my votes to the Bolshoi and the Trans-Siberian.

St. Basils is definately one of the ones I was considering. The Grand Kremlin Palace and Red Square were others.

I had no idea that Red Square predated the Soviet era.

St Basil is ok, but the Czar Alexander II memorial church in St. Petersburg is much-much greater and amazing.

I understood that germans themselves could have accidentially torpedoed their own ship. Conspiracies etc...

    How about Juri Gagarin?

Juri was only the dude who got the honours (and a statue ). It was, IIRC, Viktor Koroljev's project - the Russian space program (and he got a statue too ).

How about the university of Moscow? It's propably the tallest university in the world (and weirdest looking I believe )
