ok, I installed the windows port of this game, but when I start it up, the freeciv logo, with the world, look cut up, with the bottom half sliced to the left, another piece to the right, and so on. Can anyone help me out?

I run on windows 98 se

Which Windows port did you run? AFAIK there are three different ports now. Is it just the logo that is "cut up" or all the screens? I know the SDL client logo has some problems here.

        I downloaded and installed
        freeciv-1.14.0-win32-sound.exe

the problem seems to be that all the tile sets are missalinged or some thing
so all the graphics are screwed up in game as well as on the logo screen

The game seems to run and play ok, but it's almost impossiable to tell what terrain any square is or what unit is what.

I don't know how to help you out on that. Perhaps try the new win32 clients linked to from the www.freeciv.org front page, news item two.
