I don't have Sim City 4, but I assume it's good so I voted that it's okay.![]()

I, quite surprisingly, voted for "I love it". I got it expecting just another sim game, but it turned out to actually be strategy game, and quite an original one.

It's pretty nice, but I don't think I'll be able to keep playing it for more than a week.

It hard at best.

The God mode's pretty cool.

Yes, sir.Come on people, post....
At first, I thought the game was beautiful, but waaaaay too hard. Thanks to this board, though, I've been able to get a few cities up'n'running, and the fun factor is growing considerably. I'm still challenged a bit with my rate of growth... How soon should I splurge for new stuff, etc., but I'll learn eventually.
Looking at the region view, and the interlocking urban sprawl, though... geekgasmic.
Question for players who are better than I am: How do you get the Industry City next to Residential/Commuter city thing to work? I've tried to set up cities strategically like that, but they only seem to work when balanced ("normal" city style). So what's the trick?

Simcity is good, but once I finnally started to get my city going, game performance started to drop dramatically. At 45k it takes forever to load, forever to save, and moving around the map is a pain.
I got a nice system, Amd xp 2000, 512 mb of pc2100 ram, and geforce 3 ti200. And yet it runs horribly. I've tried lowering the detail, it helps a bit, but not enough to leave it on horrible looking.
Performance issues have basically caused me to stop playing it.![]()

Hooray for 3d!
I haven't gotten a city above 5000 yet, so I am dreading my metropolis.

It's tough to get started, which is great
Did you remember that roads (not the small streets) are connected? (Just drag a road to the city edge, then you'll get a question)Originally posted by cinch

This space is empty... or is it?
I have heard the performance goes up, if you stop the day/night cycle (= Having it to be 'day' all the time)... have you tried that?Originally posted by Kc7mxo

I have only gotten to 10,000 population but on my computer (p3 500, geforce 2 MX 128RAM) it runs fine with he sims, cars, and shadows turned off, aswell as the day/night cycle. The only really bad load time I get is when I'm zooming in and out.
Turning the day/night cycle off would definately help, since it pretty much means that your computer has to be constantly loading new graphics for all the buildings.

I love this game. I'm really hoping they come out with an editor for the buildings. I wanna make some for this game.
I haven't noticed any house with walkout basements. Anyone see these yet? It's nice that they do put house on hillsides though, it's just unfortunate they are on piles.
What if your words could be judged like a crime? "Creed, What If?"

I like the game. I think it's a lot easier to play without cheating than Simcity 3000 Unlimited. I haven't played a single city long enough to get above 13k people, but once I start playing a city, it's hard to stop.

That is definately quote-worthy.Originally posted by Big Crunch

My brother has aquired a copy of this game, so I will be trying it out... sometime...
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
Its definitely hard to get going and the tutorial really ought to have done better at helping people get started. Most people equate demands from your sims/advisors as being the right advice. You have to know that you're to be a stern parent who holds back presents until they're of the right size to deserve them
Other than that, I vote good rather than great because of the lack of scenarios. Building cities from scratch is fun but once in a while I'd like to see a fully fledged town or metropolis and be asked to solve particular problems.

Lots of bananas here.
I have not bought it yet, and judging from what was said about its performance, it's unlikely that I buy it. My computer would never be able to run it at an acceptable performance level. And I don't want to turn off the day/night cycles, this seems to be interesting.
'Yep, I've been drinking again.'
It definitely makes your city more of a living place than before. Buildings evolve slowly over time instead of changing at the drop of a hat. Now I've seen it here I never want to go back to a Caesar type game where buildings ripple into new forms every time a walker strolls past.

Well, can I run the game with these specs?
Duron 850
256 RAM
Geforce 2 MX blah blah blah
Win XP Home
When I say "run", I mean "run decently", of course.
'Yep, I've been drinking again.'
I'd say not with all the frills turned on. 2Ghz, WinXp, 512 ram, Geforce Ti4400 and its comfortable. Zooming and scrolling still takes time.

Well I am thinking of buying Sim City 4, I have mixed feelings on it. Would it be good game to get or should I just stay with Sim City 3000?
SimCity 4 is superior in every way to Simcity 3000 imho, but its also significantly harder, especially in the beginning.

There's no gameplay in SC3k, compared to SC4... as Grumbold say: SimCity 4 is superior![]()
This space is empty... or is it?

Simcity 4 is way superior. But, I think you should have a good computer if you want to enjoy it. It's a RAM hog!
I just read at the official SC4 board, some guy complains about the bugs in SC4, but he says he was among the programmers, who made Civ3, and said: Making the game is hard, but fixing the bugs is peace of cake!!!
You can read it in this thread:

Though I must admit, I didn't read it all, so I might have missed something...
