Yes!
Let me check the map before I pick a civ though.![]()
With the correct starting positions? Then I'm in for a game. The map, will be this map: (Kal-Els Earth 180x180 v1.6) from the scenario folder included in PTW... I just changed the starting positions for the new Civs (Since they wasn't added in the original file)?
I know I'll play as a random Civ
Anyone interested?
Btw. I'd say we should use my mod:
I have added a lot of cities for the old Civs.
I have made a minor change (road now requires wheel)
The last change can quickly be changed back to normal, but I'd like to play with more cities, than there where in the orig game...
Players in the game:
ADG Playing as Random
Eli Playing as Persia
Ananias Playing as Celts
Conqueror Playing as Americans
Dissident Playing as Aztecs
jshelr Playing as Russia
The playing order:
1) ADG
2) Jshelr
3) Ananias
4) Dissident
5) Eli
6) Conqueror

Btw, where does Celts, Ottomans and Carthage start? I have no clue, so I just placed them somewhere, where I think they might belong...

I'll take India.
Can we reduce corruption a bit? To 70-80%? It ruins the game for me.

And I think we should avoid from starting too close to eachother. The map is big enough.

Sure, no problems... I don't like the corruption much either...
I've set it to 75%

Hmph.
I'm rethinking my civ choice.
India has a great starting location, but sucky traits.
Persia is very near, and has great traits.
But if I take Persia, and someone else grabs India...

Hmmm...tough decision...Try random... that's a very good Civ, it has all Civ traits

sounds fun. I'll be the Celts unless they start too close to somebody else. BTW, for starting position for them just about anywhere in central or west europe can be defended as a good historical choice.
Carthage should start on the north west coast of Africa, since that's where Carthage was. They were originaly a phonecian colony, so I think the civilization should be called the phoneicans. But thats a different topic.
Ottomans should be in Asia Minor (Turkey) since thats where they held the seat of their power for so long.
I'll pm you this message with my email added.
Ok, thx for the information. That means I have placed both the Carthage and the Celts the wrong place... I'd better go change it now, before I forget![]()

I could see this as great funSo i'm in.
But there are few things that need some clearing:
1. How are we able to use a mod in PBEM ? BTW - i dont exactly like the idea of road requiring the Wheel but if others are up for it, then OK.Originally posted by ADG
Btw. I'd say we should use my mod:
2. What are the game settings (huts, difficulty, barbarians) ?
If the huts are enabled then I'll take the Americans, i like exp/ind if there are huts to pop.
If not - i have to rethink my civ choise.

I meant that ofcourse a scenario or a mod can be loaded when creating the game but how would one be able to use two of these at the same time. If we are already using the world map, that would be the scenario one - how can you use another one at the same time.
Difficulty: Regent (Since it's just in the middle)... huts/babarians haven't been decided yet...
That reminds me: I have changed the Americans to sci/ind, but I believe most people prefer them to be exp/ind, so I'll change them back to normal

Doesn't it just load up the normal .bix file when starting a game? And that scenario haven't any rules (Well... I can't edit the rules when opening that map...and I'm playing that map now, with my own rules AFAIR, but I might be mistaking...I'll go check)Originally posted by Conqueror

Yes, I just started a new game, on that map, and I've got the roads not avaliable until Wheel...
How do you others think about that change? Should I change it back to normal, or should we try it out? I just made that change, to make the invention Wheel a little more interesting (That one is usually one of the last inventions I invent, during that age...)

If no one else takes any civs in the Mesopotamia-India region, switch me to Persia.

It depends does ADG give us huts to pop or notOriginally posted by Eli

I'm not the only one in charge of the huts/babarians... Just tell me, what settings you'd like for them, and then we'll just before the game starts, see how people "vote" on the different options...
Personally, I wouldn't care about if they're on or not, since both is fun

4-6 humans is good, its a bit more faster pace than full 8 humans.Originally posted by ADG

is this game filled yet? I'm interested in the Aztecs

How many AIs then?
"Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master" - Commissioner Pravin Lal.
This is a neat idea. Iriquois please if there is room in the game. Can we use Marla's map with civs sited "properly?"
It's going to take approximately forever to play the game, but that is ok.
BTW, the Aztec choice is clever. No one starts in South America![]()
If we say, Max 6 players, then the game is filled if Conqueror, Dissident and jshelr is in the game.
The reason I didn't pick Marla's map, was: AFAIR that map is bigger, and the starting positions haven't been set...
Conqueror >> Which Civ would you want to play as?
As for AI's. I wouldn't mind having them in the game, but I wouldn't mind not having them in either... What do you others think?
BTW: When shall we start the game? Monday? During the weekend? Later?

I think we should skip them.
But I see a possible problem concerning the civ choice.
At this point, every civ has an entire region to expand to, without competition.
Dissident and Jshelr have North/South America, Ananias has Western Europe and the British Isles and I have the India and the Middle East region.
If Conqueror or ADG's random civ are in one of these areas, some players will have huge advantages over others.
For example, if someone picks America then Jshelr will be in problems, or Ananias if someone picks the French, or myself if someone takes Babylon.
So IMO, since we all know the map and the civ locations arent random, to keep the game balanced every player should have his "own" region.

In second thought, maybe they can be used to fill unused regions, like Africa, East Asia or maybe even Russia(if no one picks a civ there of course).
We should have huts, and barbarians, but not too much of them.
"Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master" - Commissioner Pravin Lal.
Or, darn![]()
On Marla's map, the Iriquois get one cow and one wheat per city. Your alternative probably won't make Canada look like heaven.
Well... I might want to take Egypt or China then, just to avoid the mentioned problem...
This space is empty... or is it?

IMHO,
up to 3 AI should be used to fill empty regions
(whats the point of multiplayer if AI abounds?)
(# of human players)/2 > or = # of AI
We should have some huts, but I think its silly when you can pick up your first 8 techs just by letting a couple scouts walk around, so not too many.
I would encourage Conquerer to pick a civ for the sake of maintaining regions. then we can pick AIs that we know wont start too close to anyone.

There are still four free regions.
Northern Africa and South Europe - Carthage, Egypt, Rome, Greece, Spain... Maybe someone else.
South&Central Africa - Zulus, err... and the others.
Oceania - No one starts there, but we can make some custom realistic civ like the Aborigines.
East Asia - China, Japan, the Mongols, the Koreans.
East Europe, Russia - Russia... and that's it I think.
