  • Civ3 $70 !!!!! I cant afford that......

I saw Civ3 at Walmart for $29 and put it in my cart. Luckily the checkout line was as usual a mile long and I got to reading the Civ3 box.....

I found out I had PTW that required Civ3 which to my dismay was another $40.

So, I thought for a moment a software company finally got their pricing to acceptable levels and BAM!! realized that they just got a slick way to charge us $70 in two convenient payments.

NOT TO MENTION this game is just a revamped Civ2...
What are there? -over a half a dozen remakes of this game (Colonization,Civ,CTP, Alpha,Civ net) and yet they still cant put a reasonable price on it?

I going to consider Kazaa for this game until the price comes down to an acceptable level.

    (done venting, ....still mad)

The one thing Civ3 has above most other civilization-esque games is the improved AI. In Civ2 you could beat the AI while blind folded, in SMAC/X it was pretty much just as easy. Theres much more then that of course, but thats the biggest difference i'd say. As for the price, you don't have to get PtW just yet. Especially if you think Civ3 is just the same as Civ2, i'd buy Civ3 and try it first. If you like it you'll probably be more then happy to shell out 30$ more for PtW, if not then just take it back. And oh yeah, the next person I hear mention a lame file sharing proggy as a source for warez is going to get killed.

civ3 has been selling well(for some strange reason, it's just a revmped civ2 anyway). it took it a year to get to 35$(on amazon, eb still sells it for 40$).

so you'll have to wait for some time...

beyond that, i'll consider re-opening this thread when you stop considering to use kazaa
