Edit: Too much errors in paragraph, very poorly structured too.

Sorry, This post was deemed unsalvagable

        Quinns,
What do you think about this rule:
After a player had no powergraphs (rating adjustements) for 3 months, he is contacted by the current CtP PBEM Ladder Administrator (email or ICQ) and asked what's the matter with him, if he wants to remain rated. If the player agrees, he is dropped from the ratings.

I though of this after dropping Aaginor, who stopped visiting Apolyton and playing CtP after getting a new PC, and so he just stood there in the last place. And TheBirdMan was right, when he pointed out that it made Aaginor look like a newbie.

I agree with this rule Solver, but not with your implication that "newbies" are bad players.

Newbies -- BAD? Being new doesn't, necessarily, mean that a player is an unskilled player. Look at Blackice who was a "newbie" to PBEM a couple months ago. Blackice defeated both TheBirdMan and me, on internet play and is a very good player (ranked in the top 10 on GameLeague at one time). Newbies CAN be deceivingly "good" players.

Nice comment Quinns. And veterans can be bad. Look at me - played CtP since it came out, and look at my rating. LOL.

Can the top three players play in more than just ONE RATED GAME! Come on Mobius, Klair, and Rick! Quit hiding in your "single game" fortress and come play with the rest of us! (Just kidding .... sort of )

Mobius IS actually playing in one more rated game.

I kick his "spanish" a.. every 9th turn (and so does Demos) in Lung DM 3.2.

                        Until now, that is .

They (Mobius and Demos) are most unpleasent (to me) steadily closing in the gap between us .

Edit: But what the heck - I'm still on Tyranny, no ruins found with a decent government yet . So what could I expect ?

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

Actually I'm rated in Swissy 2 too...

But the turnaround in that game has been pretty slow lately that you might as well not count it!
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Actually, Solver... now that you mention it, we COULD rate the internet games as well. As long as the VOLUME of reported games remains below about 10 per week, I could handle the data entry. (If it goes beyond this volume level, maybe somebody could create the programming interface to do this automatically. I would contribute 20 megabytes of space on my hosted www.worldtennisratings.com website, (or maybe Apolyton would be willing to do so), if someone was willing to do the programming.)

We would handle it the same way as PBEM game ratings with some changes, of course:

                              CTP Internet Game Rankings Incorporation
                              1) There would be only one rating per player, i.e. it would turn into "CTP Ratings" instead of "CTP PBEM Ratings".
                              2) There would be no *9 turn ratings for Internet games. Instead, the internet game would be ranked in reverse order of elimination, (or any other agreed upon victory conditions).
                              3) All CTP rated games would permit no use of "bug tricks" or any other kind of misuse of the intended game rules.
                              4) (Other rules, I'm sure, ... just can't think of them now.)

                                Quinns,
I don't really want to have to have to play more games right now just for the purpose of being in more rated games. But I don't want to cause any problems for the score-keepers, either. So I'd be willing to retire from the ratings if this would be helpful.

BTW, Mobius recently completed the Demos Semi-Acc game as the winner, with a final score so high that hadthe game been played now, and been rated, you'd have had to create a new category even higher up the scale than #1!
