Pre Poll Discussion: Something I noticed about our CoL

It looks like Trip never changed our Code of Laws based on section 1 of this poll: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=54676

NOW, this is COMPLETELY understandable considering the confusing nature of the poll layout itself.

However, I still think this amendment would improve our constitution greatly, and suggest it be reconsidered and voted upon.

Here is the amendment in its entirety, feel free to suggest changes at will.

Section to replace Trade Advisor and Finance Advisor section of the CoL:

    Minister of Economy:

The Minister of Economy ensures our nation's commercial market progresses smoothly and efficiently. This officer advises the people and President on the budget of our nation and is the principle authority on all international trade involving currency and resources.

This Minister must approve any and all trades involving Gold, Luxuries, and Strategic Resources before they may be carried out. The Minister of Economy is also directly responsible for managing the Tax and Luxury sliders.

Trade Embargos must first be approved by both the Minister of Economy and Foreign Affairs Minister before they may be enforced.
Section to replace Minister of Foreign Affairs section of CoL:

    Minister of Foreign Affairs:

This minister is given the power to enter into diplomatic negotiations with other countries, however should refrain from making commitments until approved by the people.

The Foreign Advisor is granted the power to make peace, accept Mutual Protection Pacts, offer Right of Passage Agreements, and forge Military Alliances.

The exchange of all items, except Luxury, Gold, or Strategic resources falls on the broad shoulders of the Foreign Affairs Minister. It is, however, strongly recommended that the Foreign Affairs Minister consults with other ministers whose office may be affected by such trades.

This Minister is required to consult the Minister of Economy when Luxury, Gold, or Strategic resources are involved in a trade.

Trade Embargos must first be approved by both the Minister of Economy and Foreign Affairs Minister before they may be enforced.

It should be implementeed then! I think parts of the original constitution that have been changed should be in italics but still there, all changes should go on the end as amendments.

Hmm, in my opinion this would make it an extremely cumbersome and clumsy document.

I submit it would be better to replace old things with the new things, to make it simple and concise!

This amendment is solid, and goes in the way of what has been voted.

I also think we should completely get rid of obsolete things of our code of laws. Keeping the old stuff would only be confusing for those who look for good info, and would charge the Text uselessly.

Don't forget our laws were written at a given time, by a given person, and they'll change when time passes by. No need to carve them in stone.

Do we need another vote on this? I could just put it in.

If they passed by the necessary %age, then I wouldn't think we would need another vote. Unless another poll(s)/amendment(s) passed since that would have overwritten any of these. Or if any of these had been challenged successfully.

We are bringing the Constitution in line with common practices? Good. Let's get it done.
