  • All Civ3 units graphics available!

I finished my much delayed promise of getting all of the Civ3 unit graphics up and available for download. They are available at Locotus's sites:

    ftp://apolyton:GXU2jZA9@galileo.spaceports.com/

    FTP: www.0catch.com

I'll add terrain graphics soon, but you can get better ones through the Civ3 forum where Sn00py did some much needed improvements.

Now we just need someone to convert flc files to sprites.

Yeah, that would help Anyone up for it? We could certainly use the extra sprites (no, don't look at me, I'm a moron when it comes to graphics)...
You'll get in the Apolyton Times, that's gotta be worth something...

          yes there is a proplem

we are using sprites in ctp2
in civ3 there are .flc to make the units visible on the screen

the .flc are something like movies
they can never translate into ctp2 , sorry thats hard but true

i have watch the .flc in a programm moonzoom 3d that i use for my 3d laser scanner(i have bought the laser scanner very cheap for 150 euro by conrad electronic germany )

with moonzoom can somebody make the .flc , as example you take an objekt and then makes an animation in the flc format and
          take it into civ 3

i have problems with the right colour or something other so that i can not see the flc clear in moonzoom

for ctp2 you have to take an animation programm take an object and make picture , then take the picture and makespr.exe and make a sprite and take it into ctp2 folders

you see the different ,iám so sorry

          so long ranger

          lars anankin willen

p.s. with an 3d object and a 3d programm we can make an .flc or pictures . but we can not make an object with flc , picture or sprites , if this some body could change he would be a god under the programmer and i would be his believer
thanks to all soldiers in all the wars that they have given me the freedom to speak and write, like the germans, english, austrians and russians in the napoleonics wars, like the france, english, american and russians in ww2

law, you can make sprites from *.flcs, as the *.flc can be displayed as a set of pictures. Then you take each picture and make it into a *.tif file, add an alpha channel, and make them into a sprite.
Takes a while though, but not as long as making them by hand.

Actual the *.flc files are a bunch of images and of course you can use Animation Shop to convert all frames to single pictures you have to resize them, put them into the right folder , add the alpaha channel and so on... of course it is a long procedure. But it is possible to convert them to CTP1/2 format. At least CTP1/2 sprites contains all the images, too. You can consider them as movies, too. And of course it is possible to program a tool that can convert Civ3 *.flc files to CTP1/2 sprites.

i must say sorry but i did not know that a animation can be split into picture

for example the battlecruiser attack .flc file was 168X115 lenght and 160 picture on this way it can be make

the normal lenght of ctp2 have 96X72 lenght
and 5 picture for small animation, only walking
and 14 picture for middle animation, walking plus pause animation
and 292 picture for big animation , with walking, animat walking, death, victory, shwadow and pause animation

offshure the alpha channel must also be integreated

i find it very hard even i know how to do it ,to write a programm that can make it

                    heal to the king,baby

I downloaded a modified resources.psx. Obviously that is the big image that contains all goods. In the end the good graphics that are displayed on the map. Unfortunatly these graphics look terrible. Even the small dye icon that I graped from Harlan's screenshots looks much better. Therefore can someone attach here the good images images of the Civ3 Civilopedia (What a name I prefer Great Library for more atmosphere, although they just tranlated it with Lexikothek into German, something to fix ). That would help a lot to make good sprites, because the Great Library images are bigger and therefore they have a higher quality, and that would result better sprites, finnally.

I think you're right, but I can't find the graphics for it in either of the threads, or on your sites

I downloaded Maxon 4D Cinema demo, and found it horrifically complicated. I don't think I'll ever be able to use it for spritemaking, I'll stick to hacking Baldur's Gate and AoK...

It wasn't helped by the fact that the demo disables importing human-form objects, and also saving the files
