  • How well has Civ 3 been selling?

I ask because I enjoy it and hope it does well. I think if it does well then Infofames would be inclined to release and add-on that could hopefully have great scenarios and also a great editor so all of the geniuses from the CIV2 era can make even better scenarios this time around. So, any reports on if the game is selling well?

the first week it came out civ captured the top two spots, with normal civ3 coming in first and the limited edition coming in second

the second week it came in second behind backyard basketball

the third week it came in third behin the sims hot date and harry potter

      Cool avatar Korn

I don't know how well it's selling but I just got a copy of combat mission and haven't looked at civ3 since.

I want to know how well (or badly) it sells too... I will keep a close eye.
It seems it is going down nicely, isn'it? Christmas will tell some more.
The ice was here, the ice was there, the ice was all around: it cracked and growled and roared and howled like noises in a swound!

Actually, in a perverse way I actually hope that enough suckers will buy Civ 3. Much as I'm disappointed in it it's still far better than any RTS game of late. And for crying out loud, we've had so many verbatim remakes of Command and Conquer, that I can't even count that high. It looks like every month someone just HAS to do a clone of C&C, with only the unit graphics and names changed.

Maybe Civ 3 will show that you CAN make money with a turn based game, too. That it doesn't have to be a real-time whack-a-mole to sell.

              Well, I can hope, can't I?

                Ummm.... yes.

How is Civ3 selling? Like helium after the Hindenburg disaster, by the sounds of things...

                      Civ3 losing steam?

here is the NPD chart for this week

                      1) The Sims: Hot Date (Electronic Arts)
                      2) Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone (Electronic Arts)
                      3) Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Activision)
                      4) Roller Coaster Tycoon (Infogrames)
                      5) The Sims (Electronic Arts)
                      6) Backyard Basketball (Infogrames)
                      7) Survivor (Infogrames)
                      8) Ghost Recon (Ubi Soft)
                      9) Civilization III (Infogrames)
                      10) Zoo Tycoon (Microsoft)
and as to Antonin question on how many copies civ3 has sold, the first week it was probably in 120k-250k copies range and somewhat less every week since then

I haven't posted in awhile but

Glad to see someone else who knows what that number means.

I wanna know, how many copies did Civ II sell at this time?
And compare that to the number Civ III has now.
