  • GRAPHIC: Mood Sheilded Population Heads

Inspired by Evan's similar mod to the Population Heads, CivIII users can now see quickly and easily the mood of thier citizens.

Took a little while to get this to look good, but I think I did it.
Extremely unhappy people are maked with a very angry black smiley face sheild.
Unhappy people have a red frowny face.
Content people have a white face (with slight smile, to match most of the content faces)
And Happy people have a golden 'toothy' face.

I tried to keep with the style of the faces in CivIII (notice, like, in the city display and such). So, they fit pretty well with the game, I think. Otherwise, it's up to you folks to decide.
    Enjoy!

After testing three 'population heads' mods, I have to say that your version is the best. The graphics are clear but unobtrusive and fit well into Civ3´s overall design. Good work!

            Really nice!

Really nice job. I'm one of the folks who thinks that Civ III is mostly okay, I guess, or I haven't spent enough time with it yet to find the annoying problems. Up until a couple of weeks ago I was still playing Civ II pretty regularly, so Civ III seems like a great improvement. The one thing that was bugging me, aside from the computer colonizing all over me, was that it was so hard to read the moods of my people.

A quick world war took care of the first problem, and your smiley head mod took care of the second. I've downloaded a couple of mods from Apolyton in the last week or so but so far, yours is the only one I've installed.

Thanks for a well-made and useful fix.

Is there a "smiley" type icon on resisting citizens also?

Nevermind, yes there is and its quite nice

A suggestion - it can be hard to tell the tax collectors from the entertainers from the scientists. Could you add something like maybe a dollar sign for tax collectors, an exclamation point for entertainers and a question mark for scientists? Or just a "T" for tax collector, "E" for entertainer, "S" for scientist would suffice. I think the problem is that throughout the ages theres various graphics for each of these, maybe Im just not used to them yet...

                      Icons on specialists

Would it be able to put a little icon on the specialists heads ?
A little goldcoin or somethong like that to show you which kind of specialists they are.

This graphicsmod is by the way very helpful.

                      Thanx

specialists get icons from another file, for instance entertainers get 1 happy symbol and tax collectors get one gold coin stack and scientists get 1 purple beaker. if you use the editor to change scientists to give +5 to science, they will have 5 beakers by them. That being said, it wouldn't be too hard to add an icon for specialists that just says what type they are. I might get around to that this weekend if someone doesn't beat me to it.

                          Great

                          Great. b:
                          that's excactly what I ment.

It just makes it a lot easier to see what kind of specialists you have in large cities, when looking at your domestic advisor screen (F1).

                          Looking forward to it !

Go to this thread and use pkzipfix to uncorrupt the zip file. Worked for me.
