  • Why can I not give a thread no stars?

Read the subject, I can't see why we are limited to just vote 1 to 5, when it could be 0 to 5.

Also, why can't it be a non fixed grade made from two images of different colors, that have a fix height, maybe 5 pixels, and a total width (image1+image2) of maybe 80 to 90 pixels that is separated more exactly then just rounded stars.

Would expanding the range by one really make a difference?

I suspect the reason is that a thread with a zero-star rating would appear identical to a thread that had never been rated at all. One star lets the viewer know that it has been rated, and poor at that.

Yes it would, if you think a thread is really bad, but someone with a brain damage has voted 5 stars for you want that down as mush as possible, and you start looking for a -5 points, but obviously you can't vote negative, but nothing should stop you from voting zero.
And how about my other suggestion on how the ratings show?

The rating system must have been designed by a Roman; we do not have that new-fangled zero thing.

But sometimes I must give threads that big Zero.

How 'bout we get rid of that useless feature that nobody likes or bothers with?

Ah, you find one of the good things with the light style

Rating doesn't show up, but you can rate.

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you rate threads?
I've noticed little ratings icons in the non-forum parts of Apolyton, but I've never seen them on the forums

In the bottom left corner of a thread there is a dropdown list... use it!

It's okay; I've done my part by rating this thread a 1.

As long as everybody knows how the rating system works, it's fine. We could just as easily start at 100 000 and go to 100 004.

Ah, but KH - we would lose count somewhere around 3007 and never know whether you had actually liked it or not ....

Sure, I'll change that. Stupid me, not reading what I'm writing before I post it.

No one rates threads anyway. And a 0 would be disrespectful.

The only threads people rate are threads about people rating threads. Like this one.
