I read a book on the Enlightenment a couple of weeks back; the author noted that, while many Enlightenment authors expressed great love and admiration for "Humanity" in the abstract, in practice they tended to loathe a large percentage of the people they came into contact with (especially stupid, uneducated, or reactionary people). On reflection, it occurs to me that a variant on that same phenomenon could easily appear in this case. Haven't you ever met anyone who passionately hated and feared the [X] who were undermining and destroying society, but didn't display any animosity to individuals they met from group X? "X is a hobgoblin with no redeeming characteristics; this particular X seems like an ordinary person whom I'm actually inclined to like; therefore he, like all the other X'es I have met, is a rare exception." People don't always, or even usually, maintain consistency between their abstract/general and concrete/particular fears and hatreds.

If Kid were pathological, it would explain a lot.
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Even if you lump all polytheistic belief system together, that doesn't mean Hitler did.

The point is that he had no reason to have a problem with Greek Mythology. He did have a problem with Jews though. Did you not know that?
