Apparently they just couldn't compete with the firehose stream of sex available for free off the internet, so they're rebranding. Now they're going to be, uh, Maxim, basically. I think. Making honest men of all those people who say they 'only read it for the articles.' Assuming anyone still says that. And selling lots and lots of crap with bowtied rabbits on it.

A smart move on their part. They have pretty much been considered soft porn anyway. Even before the internet, Penthouse and Hustler made Playboy look like a kids magazine in comparison.
Playboy does have a strong brand, and now they can really use it to it's fullest.Keep on Civin'

Yeah, the paper had an article on that this morning and they were listing the classics. Of course they started with the Carter one and worked down from there. By the time they got to eighth or so, they stopped being that classic. Well, it sounds weird either way; the idea of buying dead trees to look at b-list starlets shirtless today seems absurd, but Playboy without bland softcore nudity sounds like sugar-free pixy sticks. Is there any there there?
