    Efficient with my enjoyment too.

I love Guards Guards, but did I need to read it to many times?

Did I need to waste so much time on pornography? Especially considering all the negative components.

Did I need to waste so much time on games which were not so fun? (thinking WOW here, not CIV).

Did I need to spend so much time on Apolyton?

I wouldn't want to change anything really.
I have a new found attitute of gratitude for simply being alive and can find soulshaking beauty in everything, a blue sky, a green mountain top, the simplest things.

        Well-said.

I get the efficiency argument. I feel very much as if I wasted my late teens/early 20s basically doing nothing. There was a time when I was literally doing nothing other than sleeping, eating, ****ting, and talking on AIM on my parents' (very limited) dime. If I had also been enjoying my life then, perhaps an argument could be made for not wanting to sacrifice enjoyment for efficiency. As it was, it was a lot of time wasted not being happy.

um. Yeah. There's a few key events I'd like to avoid.

15 years ago I was building sandcastles on the beaches of SoCal and playing Everquest a bit. My life was very relaxed, but it wasn't very fulfilling.

I moved back to Utah in 2001, and probably would have done so sooner to focus on building web properties. I would probably still come join Apolyton so I could troll a few of you on prediction threads, but would not have played so many video games. That would be pretty easy assuming I maintained my current mindset, since I've been a bit bored with gaming the last several years. Going back to 15 yo games is fun for a few days sometimes, but it gets old fast. Also watching online videos would be intolerable given the streaming quality back then, so there wouldn't be too many distractions.

I think I'd have to try to stop 9/11. While there's a chance it would make things worse, and possibly result in imprisonment or death ... I don't think I could pass that up. It would destroy me with guilt. (I don't remember enough details/dates about any other major disasters to do anything meaningful about them.)

If successful in stopping 9/11 from happening, it would essentially eliminate the chance to make tons of sure money on the stock market though. The timing would surely be thrown off even if some of the major events (dot com crash, housing bubble) could still be assumed to occur. It probably would also change a great many other events that could be bet on (sporting events), but not so much to make the information useless. You'd just have to be smart about it and not risk too much on any given event.

General technological/social trends would still be able to be capitalized on. The explosion of the internet ... I'd be buying up short brandable .COM domain names and filling them with search bait and ads. Build Facebook and Twitter and YouTube. While it's probable I wouldn't do as well as they did, it would definitely be worth a try. Knowing their formula for success and having a head-start, there's a good chance of being able to duplicate it to at least some degree. Google would have a headstart, but it might be possible to compete in the search space in a meaningful way, especially if any of the social properties took off.

Then I would use the profits to go build water treatment facilities, greenhouses, roads, markets, schools, hospitals, irrigation projects, and houses in the developing world. (As "for-profit", but with the profit always going back into increasing wages or building more infrastructure.)

Using my knowledge of the future, I would make my dream of being the last man on earth come true.

Just realized I'd have to wear braces again (for 6 years). This might not be the best idea.

Oh boy. The mortgage crisis, lehmans crashing, the possibilities are endless. Would not change anything in personal life.

I don't go to McKinsey. I discover magnesium boride and iron selenide superconductors.

Other than that, I need a deeper reset (pre 1992) to get the love of my life. But maybe I settle on one of the second best ones.

Think big. Pick different stocks. Do you have any idea the kind of money you could have made shorting Enron?

Do you know of any stock that can deliver better than a £35,000,000 return on a £1 investment in less than 24 hours, Mr "Think big"?
