Yes very.
The critics here burried it saying it set too ambitious goals that it wasn't able to fulfil and that's true.
But on a more pertinent note, **** the critics, it's a great movie full of tintilizing sci-fi stuff with great effects and acting.
Also that god fearing hillbillie who stars in the movie does a great great job!
GO SEE IT.

Seen it today - it's great, as good as anything this year, probably one of those "once in a decade" films.
Great setting, good acting team, interesting story, all tied up nicely.

I just watched it, and thought it was terrific! It's pretty much a reimagining of 2001: A Space Odyssey.Comment
