The Swedish submarine is a mean beast, but has a limited range and is mostly only effective in coastal areas, particularly where the water is cold--such as the Baltic Sea.

Also, even if they got radar locks on the SR-22, there's no way they could have shot it down, it just flies too ****ing fast.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Swedish fighters were able to lock radars onto the SR-71 because in the Baltic Sea it flew an extremely predictable flight path between Smaland and Gotland and we typically alerted the Swedes in advance when it would be there. That doesn't mean kinematically the missiles ever had a chance in hell of hitting. In order to hit a plane with a missile, you have to be close enough that the missile won't run out of fuel first. Shooting from below reduces your range, and shooting at a fast target also reduces your range. Shooting from below at a fast target is not a winning proposition.

Did Julian Assange release this information?
