DD, I already know the importance of a discussing gun safety.
To us, it is the BEAST.

He already explained that it's a government mandate.

Besides that, with everything else mentioned in the package, it makes a lot of sense.

So good plans should be ignored if the government comes up with them.

No wonder conservatism is a self-fulfilling prophecy of fail.

Well then, explain to the parents of every child the importance of gun safety.

I do hope you're not saying that to me. I have no problems with doctors talking about it.

                    A) It's the government telling the doctors to limit themselves to cases where it is actually relevant to treatment.
                    B) It's hardly a free speech issue as the doctors in the article allege.

...so they can't talk about household chemicals until the child comes in poisoned? I really don't see the difference here.

For the purpose of routine check ups, vaccination and parent education ("anticipatory guidance") children are supposed to be seen 4 times in their 1st year, twice in their second, annually until age 6 and then every 2 years into their teens. That's a general recommendation by various professional medical organizations, and is mandated for children on Medicaid. The burden of educating parents how to care for their children has been squarely dumped in the laps of doctors because, well, because f**k it, the docs are already there and we're already paying them, so yeah we can squeeze everything a parent needs to know in 10 half hour sessions spread over 10 to 12 years that are also taken up by other pressing medical needs. It just goes to show you how much the geovernment cares about 'Muricas youth.

Seems the nitwit is the one who failed to specify just who in the fuuuck he was talking to.

Because "it's a government mandate" and "it makes a lot of sense" doesn't sufficiently outline my position?

Wasn't part of the conservative hue and cry about Obamacare that they specifically didn't want the government telling doctors what to do?
