        They can get married, just not in a Christian church. I have no idea why having a religious ceremony is so important to people who don't believe.

                If there's no government marriage, there's no legal requirement of spousal support in the event of divorce. What is there to recognize? It's the Christina Applegate of arguments. It looks great but there's no substance behind it.
