In the tax box, which do you cut back on?
Sure, a balance is good; but in doing that, one dips somewhat.
Which?

I usually keep just enough money coming in to pay expenses, while trying for optimal science rate and making citizens happy in attempt for "We Love The..." days.

depends on game type... if i in a strong allaince i will usually go for money and lux whilst sacrificing science and get techs from ally(s) , this usually promotes WLTPD and speeds up growth whilts giving me money to rush buy whatever i need...
if i in a single player game i usually max science to get techs first
