Well, let's be clear here. Shaking hands with someone I'm sexually attracted to is also a level of intimacy I'm uncomfortable with.

If you want to prevent rape on college campuses you should have efforts to curb unsafe consumption of alcohol by both men and women, not have this retarded consent education bull**** that I know from experience nobody takes seriously. I doubt anyone is going to take seminars on alcohol seriously either, but at least you are attacking the actual problem: people know about consent and its importance; they are just too drunk to care (or they do care and neither party remembers what happened).

Some interesting comments. Poll results don't align very well with expectations in some quarters. People who advocate only yes means yes, enthusiastically preferably, would be disappointed.

I'm staying within context. I've shared beds with women I've fancied but never had any relationship with. It's great.

i'll be honest, sometimes the unique feeling of closeness that comes from just cuddling is more satisfying that sex.

It's not a weird question. It's topical in Canada ATM with controversies on campuses about 'rape culture,' and recent discussions here about gender issues. I'm wondering how the demographic represented by Poly sees consent.

                    • Maybe it's your bag but for me, sleeping next to an attractive woman that you are not dating and won't be having sex with seems awkward as hell; I'd decline the offer.

                      • I've slept in the same bed with a few women who I wasn't having sex with (as in, who I'd never had sex with and in many cases who I never wound up having sex with) - I'm not going to sleep on the floor (or outside, if we're camping) just because I might embarrass myself with an erection or whatever.

I voted for "responds physically but doesn't say yes" because a few times something like this has happened

loin: So, want to have sex? [or whatever]
                        she: [takes off clothes]
                        loin: Wutang

whereas if I'd responded like this:

loin: So, want to have sex?
                        she: [takes off clothes]
loin: Sorry, you've got to say "yes" so I know you won't accuse me of raping you

then that would just be awkward

A lot of men just don't pay attention to what's going on. I'm shocked that college boys aren't more vocal about it since they can be falsely accused and kicked out of college. I think they have no way to put themselves in that situation.

a false rape accusation isn't generally regarded as a thing that actually happens.

at least in this reality where i reside anyway.
