Basically, when a boy/man demonstrates leadership skills, he's a leader.

When a girl/woman demonstrates leadership skills, she's derided as being bossy.

I hate to spoil the narrative here but it appears that it's boys, not girls who are falling behind in school.

Look, there's nothing wrong with teaching girls to be more assertive, but if you’re looking at classrooms for evidence of gender disparities and the one you seize on has to do with “bossiness,� not the one about a gigantic achievement gap, you might have an agenda you’re pushing other than solving gender disparities.
