The new offseason is upon us.

Adrian Peterson: Mike Vick would instantly make the Vikings a playoff team

Wow, I feel sorry for AP. I didn't know his crack habit was so bad.

I mentioned it as a likely destination months ago. It makes a lot of sense. It's Minnesota's tradition to bring in aging QB's on the last leg of their careers (Moon, Cunningham, Favre, McNabb), they only have Ponder under contract, and they want to get the most out of the team before Peterson (who turns 29 this month) slows down, discouraging them from starting over with a project at QB.

If we assume they'll bring in a veteran, Vick is the best veteran on the market.

Unless the Vikings go after Mark Sanchez, who is still under contract with the Jets...

AP's 29, bringing in an aging, injury prone QB sounds like the ticket. It's not a coincidence that Philly turned around after Vick got injured. Minny would make the playoffs if they could get Schaub.

Says don't bring in an aging, injury prone QB... suggests Matt Schaub

Bears finally cut the cord on Devin Hester.

Lots of kneejerk angst among the faithful, but I think it's the right move. If you're going to be an overpaid return specialist, a 5-fumble season (even with only one lost) is not a solid ticket to job security. Now, the market will determine his value.

More likely Jerry Jones will determine his value - unless Lovie beats him to it.

Loved Hester but it was time for him to go. If KRs were still relevant perhaps he could be useful, but not now.

Cowboys won't sign him. They're busy restructuring contracts of real players to get cap space.

They're restructuring their contracts so they can sign Hester, of course. Can't you imagine Jerry sitting in his office imagining Hester returning a punt 80 yards for a TD on the giant screens?

We have a KR that plays regularly. Hester won't be here.

Cowboys are like $20 million over the cap. They don't have the luxury of making a big splash in free agency.

It looks like they'll have to let DeMarcus Ware hit free agency. Brutal.

Hence suggesting Hester (at $2MM or so) was their splash

They're not 20 over anymore, they're down to like 1 or 2 over after all the restructuring they did with various people.

and probably one or two years too late

The NFL rule change regarding kickoffs has made kickoff returns all but useless.

Yep sorry to see him go. And it will irritating to see him break the record somewhere else.
But I can't disagree with the decision.
