Did they consider the Ambassador begging for more security simply to be amusing e-mails to read at work?

For all I know, they could have limited resources and can't satisfy every request people make.

This week, there have been anti-American protests in two dozen countries across the Islamic world.
that appears to be the set up for Carney and Rice, not Benghazi - didn't Obama refer to the terrorist attack the next day?

That's not what the person who denied the request said.

Let's assume this to be true for a moment Berz. If he said it was a terrorist attack then, why was the narrative for over a week afterward from the Admin about a video?

Our trillion dollar defense budget limits our ability to provide security for ambassador's in hostile regions? Only partisan hacks would make that sort of claim.
              John Brown did nothing wrong.

I agree the administration seemed more concerned with the protests than that specific attack, at least publicly... But I can understand why they'd be concerned, Benghazi already happened and these protests were growing. Its clear from the OP Wallace was asking Carney and Rice about the worldwide protests, not Benghazi.

I don't think our seven hundred billion dollar defense budget is devoted to embassy security. There's a specific appropriation for embassy security which, if I'm not mistaken, was cut recently.

Any excuse to stick to your partisan hackery. 700 billion is just what DoD admits to spending. We spend hundreds of billions more on defense through the State Department, Veterans Affairs, Department of Energy, and several other avenues including black budgets. The fact is that resources are perfectly sufficient to provide embassy security. The embassy security appropriation that you're referring to is for construction and maintenance, and it was still over a billion and a half dollars for FY 2013.

The fact is, if the President wanted to deploy marines or additional State Department security, he could have. Instead the administration ignored intelligence that didn't fit in with their "Al Qaeda is beaten" rhetoric.

Oh, so the story is that supposedly the embassy obviously needed more security, but Obama decided not to because it went against his "Al Qaeda is beaten" rhetoric, thereby enabling "Al Qaeda" in Libya to attack the embassy and make it look like Al Qaeda isn't getting beaten? And he let this happen because embassy security didn't fit with his rhetoric?

Every embassy should have a fleet of F-22s to defend it.

In this case even some horses and bayonets would have been helpful.

They had a drone observing the incident in real time. How much of a delay in the propagation of information could there have been, really?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
