The woman filed a fake tax return from the state of Oregon and actually had the state IRS issue her $2.1 million even though the 25 year old woman only worked part time and lived in a small apartment. She actually got away with it too and had spent more than $150,000 before she accidentally lost the debit card the $2.1 million came on so she filed for a replacement debit card. It was when they were replacing the debit card that one of the state government workers looked into the matter and figured out a mistake had been made.

She is in jail now though and they got their money back. She should have traveled to Luxembourg took the money out in cash then drove to Gibraltar and opened an account under a new corporate identity. That way even if she got caught the money would still be her's and after her 20 years in jail she'd have a nice nest egg to great her home.
