C'mon, who wants to adjudicate the inevitable drama? Assign the right BAPAYs? It's fun.
I'm interested in D/ST and/or Auction league this year. If there's space.

GMing a league such as IDP should be a simple thing. The rules are quite clear and laid out in the first post, and most of the participants have been doing it for long enough that they know the rules yet somehow (if last year was a typical year) the draft is a difficult thing with way too much drama for anyone to "want" to GM.
That's unfortunate.

Nothing against being commish; I'm just booked solid at work for the foreseeable future.
Which is a beautiful thing.

CBS misunderstood what I was saying (or I did not communicate properly) and thus I can now give you: http://apolyton.net/showthread.php/1...rs-League-2012

I'm going to send out another reminder about the auction league and get people signed up ASAP. JR, you're first in line to join the Auction.

No wish to commish.
What is the auction league?
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

Where players are auctioned to the highest bidder, who has a limited amount of salary to spend. Not to be confused with Salary Cap League. I'll join that too.

But otherwise same format as DST?

All I've seen is talking, other than DST.

Snake draw set at random at the start, individual player nominations. What are the auction mechanics?
Say you were up first, you could nominate any player you wanted. Whomever you nominate you have the opening bid of 1 dollar. If someone outbids you for that player, then they have the current bid. Bid timer was 60 seconds I believe, after the last bid. Players can all pass if not interested, to end the timer sooner.
So say, Albert bid 1 dollar on Peyton Manning, everyone else could pass, and leave him with Manning. And he wouldn't get any say to it. There's no required order for nominations, you can nominate absolutely anyone you want in any order, so draw order matters very little.
200 bucks budget - no limit on how much per individual player.
I had 5 QBs and 2 Kickers and I won first time out! Missed the first 20 minutes of the draft due to traffic.

Why I won:
Best picks:
QB1 - Drew Brees (50) [1]
RB1 - Maurice Jones Drew (46) [9]
I was the only player with 2 legitimate first round picks. I spent 96 dollars for 1 and 9.
First round by performance:
1. Drew Brees (50) Electric Slide Jedi. Better value from Rodgers, Newton, Brady, Stafford but 50 for number 1 is good.
2. Aaron Rodgers (48) Rogue. Great pick.
3. Cam Newton (0) Roy's Boys'. Steal of the draft.
4. Tom Brady (40) bidberz. Great pick, excellent value.
5. Matthew Stafford (9) Calamitous Intent. Goddamn it Guy. 9 dollars for the fifth best pick.
6. Ray Rice (51) Fred's Phins Best RB. Decent price.
7. Lesean McCoy (47) Mountain Goats. Great RB, decent price.
8. Calvin Johnson (41) MRT - Even at 41 was underpriced. Best WR.
9. Maurice Jones Drew (43) ESJ - Very happy to get him.
10. Rob Gronkowski (3) Shanghai United. One of the biggest draft steals
11. Arian Foster (52) Have to spend money to get players.
12. Eli Manning (9) Great value, Great pick
3 of the 4 semifinalists had 2 players, me, MRT and Jag. Jag spent 99 on two players, I spent 93 on two players, MRT spent 50.
So why didn't MRT win going away?
He's got his QB and his WR1 finished. RB1 - Marshawn Lynch. Spent 10, came 19th. Middle of the road RB1. Good enough. For 10, a steal.
RB2 Matt Forte - 42 bucks for 42nd in the league. Massive bust.
RB3 - Marion Barber? Game over man. That left MRT starting Lynch/Forte all year with no depth.
Now, since MRT had only 2 RBs, he needed 3 WRs to carry the load.
Calvin Johnson covers his WR1 -
Miles Austin - 34 bucks, 125th overall. Austin with Forte cost MRT the championship.
Jordy Nelson, the real WR 2- saved his ass there. Ended up picking up Laurent Robinson at 56 to cover the WR3.
That leaves him with
8, 12, 16, 19, 42, 56, in his starting offense.
1, 9, 32, 58, 75, 85 in mine.
7, 11, 21, 28, 29, 33 for Jag.
Jag had the strongest starting corps. Jag's backups were Freeman (35), Harvin (31), Stewart (67), Keller (81), also far stronger than either me or MRT. The only thing that Jag lacked was a QB.
I'd recommend.
Spending 50 bucks on a QB, 50 on RBs 1 and 2.
I wouldn't spend more than 25 on a WR group. Smith/Harvin/Cruz was the best WR triplet, and they cost just 18 dollars. Get 5 or 6 WRs, all for cheap. TE, go cheap, pick up the right one and you make money.
Kicker, Akers was just a 1 - best kicker - lowest price.
Defense, not worth more than a couple bucks. RB3 a couple of bucks.
That leaves you with 185. I'd spend the last 15 on as many QBs as you can grab. It never hurts having a solid QB backup.

So I see roster size = 16. Presumably the starters are standard (QB, RB1-2, WR1-2, TE, K, DST, and flex). Is the flext WR/RB or WR/RB/TE? Also presuming no limits on makeup of the bench.
And how are in-season transactions handled? Do you need to keep a cash reserve for that?

no te flex and the auction bb league i'm in saved the xtra $$$ for bidding on fa but you dont need any for players cleared on the ww
thats for the team d league
dont know about idp

Flex is WR/RB.So I see roster size = 16. Presumably the starters are standard (QB, RB1-2, WR1-2, TE, K, DST, and flex). Is the flext WR/RB or WR/RB/TE? Also presuming no limits on makeup of the bench.
Nope. It works off a waiver system. Teams get waiver priority in inverse order to where they show up on the initial draft chart. It doesn't usually matter unless you and another team claim the same player. And how are in-season transactions handled? Do you need to keep a cash reserve for that?
Trades are same as IDP.
