  • Will Mitt Romney be America's first Latino president?

Or is he just 'White Hispanic' and that doesn't count?

Just because his grandpa (or was it great grandpa) moved to Mexico, and his dad (whose mom was caucasian) moved back to the US doesn't make him Latino.

It'd be like if your grandad moved to Japan, married an American woman and had your father who in turn married an American woman while living in Japan - then moved to the US and had you and then you refering to yourself of Japanese ethnicity.

Is there a Japanese American Rights Fund?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Hey if Alberto Fujimori is Latino, I see no reason why Romney can't be.

                Latino is not a race.

There are plenty of WASPy Latinos.

Was George Romney a legitimate candidate for the United States presidency? If he had beaten Richard Nixon in the primaries would his candidacy have been plagued by birthism?

QFT. Imran's analogy is incredibly flawed.

Who are you to tell Romney what his identity is? Isn't that presumptuous characterisation of his past a form of "hate speech"? In Australia Romney could take you to court on account of hurt feelings. Hurt feelings and racial justice are far more important than petty things like free speech. For all you know Romney dresses up in a giant hat and sits around next to the bar on a Westen film set on the weekends. Have a little more respect for his cultural traditions. In fact I bet you hate Latinos. Vote Romney to prove otherwise.

No one thinks it's a race. But the "Anglo-Saxon" in "WASP" means he's not Hispanic. Duh.

Is there a point here or do you simply have an axe to grind about political correctness run amok in a country that has nothing to do with this thread topic?
