It is, in fact, because ensuring a latina is nominated is the same as ensuring that no other kind of person is nominated.

This is a non point. If you choose A, B can't be chosen. AND? AND???

Do you not see how this is identical to refusing to nominate someone because of some personal attribute?

In Obama's case, he's refusing to nominate people who aren't latina.

In this case, they are refusing to nominate people who aren't straight.

The difference is we're supposed to feel sorry for the people who fall into set A and not supposed to feel sorry for people who fall into set B.

The concern is that confirming this judge would lead to wanton gay orgies in courtrooms, impeding the swift application of justice.

                    Elena Kagan?
                    John Brown did nothing wrong.

Then you might as well say "Obama is refusing to nominate people who aren't named Sotomayor."

You have no proof that Obama rejected all other potential appointees on the basis of them not being latinos. You are no better than someone who claims Obama won the election because of his skin color.

He didnt nominate her solely or even largely because she was latina. She had requisite experience to boot. And she was appointed by George H. Bush, so obviously she had some merit to warrant that. There's your difference you dolt. It's not like you're complaining about Roberts or Alito because he shared the same political views with Bush, so you fall back on this phony excuse of "Obama only did it for this reason". Stop being so full of ****, ****bird.

This guy has already received the blessing of a non political judicial body in being nominated and confirmed and yet politics and the underlying bigotry of the Republican Party.

Wouldn't that be a reason to nominate a hot lesbian and have cameras in the court?
