The only reason I even give a **** is that all this crap you daft bastards keep cheerleading for is going to lead to real life misery for millions of people. You don't have to be the same nationality to find that revolting.

I'll keep this in mind when you chastise the US if we intervene in Syria.

If I thought you wouldn't completely **** it up like you have Iraq and Afghanistan I'd be all for a Syrian intervention, and have been for well over a decade.

Thanks to Ireland, Oman and others we're actually quite good at the hearts and minds side of warfare (we should be considering how many lives we lost getting it very wrong over decades) but we don't have the force projection to carry out operations like that.

I don't see what's wrong with a gov that turned a deficit budget around without raising taxes. I wish more govs could do that. In the long run it will help millions more than it hurts.

I made two donations to Governor Walker. One for $100, and one for $17.76.
Good man. Walker should be honoured with official Texas ranger appointment.

You could run a huge surplus by slashing all public services but still continuing to tax people. How exactly does that help people?

Well, seeing as you needed your *** bailed out by the Yankees and the colonies the last major war that you fought, is it we, or you?

By running a surplus, Walker ensures that the state is fiscally stable. Promising **** that your *** can't cash, how does that help people? Providing the same services, but at a lesser cost means that everyone benefits, except for the union.

Even the teachers are better off. Instead of massive layoffs, Wisconsin was actually able to hire young ones, since the deadwood left. We need 50 Walkers.

It's your own fault for spending next to nothing on defense. Either your country doesn't have much faith in the ability of its military to do something good or your country is just too cheap to foot the bill.

I know for a fact that kentonio has done a bang up job of winning the hearts and minds of folk here at poly. Surely if he is a typical Brit one could only expect great results. Ahhh if only the UK weren't a podunk has been.

We chose to not spend a vast chunk of our GDP on defense. For a country the size of the UK to field an army large enough to invade countries across the globe alone would be foolish in the extreme.

Defends from whom exactly? From half the worlds perspective its the US that they need protection from. WWII bought you so much positive capital, and you spent much of the century throwing it away by screwing over a long list of countries for nobodies benefit but your own. Try talking to South America or the Middle East about freedom, you guys did a bang up job of taking it away from them at every turn. How long was it you kept all those dictatorships in the ME in power for again? How many South American governments did you overthrow because they weren't allowed to choose socialism as a government types when military junta was so much more in Americas interests?

It must have been very, very foolish for a country the size of the UK to control a quarter of the planet.

He said it to Albie, not to me. Sadly, Albie does not make much money, but I expect that to change when the economy picks up, and when Albie stops insisting on joining the Marines.

Actually, you have slowwy, ming and rah who all have more posts than either myself, or Albert. I'm not even the highest posting Canuck expat currently living in America FWIW.

And I'll be the first to say that judging Americans by me is like judging tits on a bull. Seriously. Judge America by someone who's lived there all their life.

Hmm state employees were making on the average about 3000 more a year than their private counterparts. Closing that gap is a far cry from slashing all public services.
Typical fear mongering. Wisconsin financially is in much better condition than Illinois. As a result they're going to be able to provide more public services than our great state.
Illinois is YEARS behind paying medicare payments to hospitals. As a result, hospitals aren't taking on new medicare patients in certain areas. Which state do you think is helping their people best?

He said it to Albie, not to me. Sadly, Albie does not make much money, but I expect that to change when the economy picks up, and when Albie stops insisting on joining the Marines.
Dang, I was hoping to put that in my sig.

We all knew Kentonio's occupation is 'douche' so what else we we expect? Kindness? Tact? Diplomacy? From an Englishman?

I actually hope he does, he seems like a nice enough guy. The idea that he's going to end up rich enough to ever benefit from the GOP style of politics is extremely unlikely however. That's the problem I have with Americans, they act as if becoming rich is a natural outcome for everyone and then even when its obvious its never going to happen they still stand against their own interests. I just see Albie as one of the pensioners on medicare screaming at TP rallies about the evils of government.

Who knows, maybe you'll turn out to be right, but this just seems like yet another step towards Americans seemingly inevitable transition into an oligarchy. Let's look again in a few years and see how things are going for the people in Wisconsin.

Remind me why exactly it was Britain war?
Because Chamberlain was a ***** and sold out Czechoslovakia. Seriously. Hitler would have been PWNT by the Czechs, and that would have been the end of that.

If Britain had stuck by her friends and allies, she would not be in the position of defending herself alone. Good thing we colonials stuck up for you unlike what you did for the Czechs.

Same as always, the Brits get in a war, and the colonies bail her out. We suffered, died and bled out under your leadership, and only turned things around to finally break the Hindenburg line. So y'all should be very thankful for us.
