Astronomy is a fun topic that is advancing rapidly.Best of luck, Lori

You'd make more money in Astrology.
“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
"Capitalism ho!"

Astrology would also be easier.
"I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow
"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." - Mark Twain

Far fewer facts required.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I suspect it was mainly the astronomy ones that I got wrong. Is there a way to review which questions one got incorrect in the second link version of the quiz? I can't see one.

Curiosity got the better of me and I resat the long form of quiz to find out which I got wrong. 4/9 of them were astronomical. One that I really should have gotten right but didn't was the value of eOh and nimbus - thought they were high altitude

I think I think, therefore I might be. Paraphrased from Ambrose Bierce (1842 - 1914)

ragequit at 25/25 because this is some bullshit dumbass trivia and I have bettershit to do with my time.

He thinks you quit because you got to a question you didn't know the answer to. In BK's mind, anyone who didn't complete the test did so because they realized they were going to get a lower score than him.

Given his propensity for bullshit, I would assume his claimed score is bullshit too.
Capitalisation - The difference between helping your uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your uncle jack off a horse
Grammar - The difference between knowing your $hit, and knowing you're $hit.
Spelling - The difference between being literate, and being Dinner.

48/50 here...not bad considering how long it is since I studiedAlthough the latter version isn't telling me which ones I got wrong which would be interesting to know.
Speaking of Erith:

This is some really dumb trivia, though. There was at least one question I easily deduced, without knowing **** about the material at hand. And as I have already said, this is not really scientific literacy, IMHO.

I'm curious to know what people's ideas about scientific literacy are. How would you define it?

"Define the scientific method in 500 words or fewer."

"Define the scientific method in 500 words or fewer."
not bad at all, although this kind of definition would reflect poorly on my own percieved level of literacy

Wikipedia's article on scientific literacy is actually pretty terrible.

The discussion page probably has several paragraphs on how the article does not have a neutral point of view because it doesn't incorporate starving artists' views on scientific literacy
"What if F doesn't equal ma? You ever thought of that?????"

Wasn't it you who expressed surprise that I was doing actual research with actual primary sources? I posted my result quite some time ago.Given his propensity for bullshit, I would assume his claimed score is bullshit too.
If you can't accept that I did quite well, that's your problem, not mine.

Wow, you'd think science majors *never* edit wikipedia. The discussion page probably has several paragraphs on how the article does not have a neutral point of view because it doesn't incorporate starving artists' views on scientific literacy

I tend to assume that unemployed or underemployed liberal arts majors have much more Wikipedia-editing time than do employed science majors.

So you're saying that Wikipedia since it is edited by unemployed starving artist liberal arts majors is an unreliable source?I tend to assume that unemployed or underemployed liberal arts majors have much more Wikipedia-editing time than do employed science majors.
Or is it that unemployed starving liberal artists do such a good job of writing articles that they have established wikipedia as very reliable?
Which is it?![]()

A bifurcation fallacy from the illustrious "pedophilia doesn't count if it's perpetrated by Catholics" Ben Kenobi? Well I just don't know where to begin!
Oh wait, I know: I'm saying that liberal arts majors are dumbasses.
