Seriously. If Europe is a country where getting in car accidents is expected and workers are too lazy to keep their jobs, then I'm ****ing glad I live in America.

oh man, I just had a looksie at the new BMW top model.

i'm in love with this 2011 model. especially now that my bike (the predecessor to the above, 2 generations ago) is showing signs of aging. yesterday i had to take a cab home from work, because the starter motor and battery were acting up again. and i HATE cabbies. always trying to take the longer route and add 3 euros to the bill.

this one is 23k new. i'll probably get a second-handed one in a year, that chips quite a lot off the price, w/o significant wear and tear.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I've got a Beemer I could part with for the right price. You'd have to pay for shipping as well though. It came from the US in the first place, so it should feel right at home.

I've just got to get a few pieces back on to it though...IMG00176-20120318-1631.jpg

I like the look of this bike. Looks old school, not too flashy, and pretty cheap. SMall engine, seems right for a beginner. Commute will be 3 miles.

For cars, we're thinking either the Audi TT coupe or a porsche cayman. Problem with the cayman is that it's a 2 seater, while the carrera is IMO uglier and starting to get out of my price range (not that I can't afford it, but that it seems too much for too little value added)

The TT but I'm probably biased since both the gay guy and the Indian guy at work own TTs. At least it's not as gay as a Miata.

Hey, I've got a TT...although I don't think I've ever seen one of the older models owned by anyone other than a woman.

The reason women drive them most is probably a lot of men can't fit in a TT. I had to crook my neck when I got in your car and I'm not tall*.

I can understand in the back, but the front is fine...that front seat was strangely adjusted from before. I have dropped it down and have been able to comfortably accommodate a mate of mine in there who must be 6'4"...

KH, the honest truth is that most 2-doors don't actually give you much better value than the Infiniti G37 Convertible or the Lexus IS 250C. You're in the place where you can drop a few extra thousand dollars on a car with nicer styling, but Infiniti tunes for a sporty feel as well as anyone.

I like them both better than the Audi TT, and I might prefer either one straight up to a Porsche Cayman.

KH, your sweet spot is 500 to 750 cc, 250 does not have enough pump.

I'm just saying that a 250 is not highway worthy. More of a combo street off-road type. The styling on that particular 250 is nice though, me likey. Just check to see if it comes in a 500cc model. Either way, test something with a little more kick before you buy.

Went with the tt. Post 2011 models have massively improved torque, 0-60 in 5.3 for base trim (which I got).

    Fun as hell to drive.
