Is there any way to convert English GOG.com SMAC version to German?

You can find German language text and audio files at the bottom of this page. (I don't think the Secret Project movies are available in German.) These files are for Alien Crossfire (SMAX), but they may work for SMAC. Just be sure to back up the English language files in case something goes wrong.
