I guess I have to get something within the next couple of days so that I can work...

So I had mentioned that I spilled water on my laptop in August (I think it was). It was a fairly new Air (March?). Since than I have not been able to use it unless it was plugged in, and occasionally I would have to reset the airport card or when it turned on it would make a beeping sound and not turn on.
However, today the airport card continues to report fail even when I restart the computer.
When I took it in to be looked at, they said water damage was to everything and that it all needed replaced (for greater than the price of the computer new). That was to a premium reseller, I could try an apple store now that I am in the US.
I would like:
Linux like (command line/etc)
Productivity software (Keynote/Powerpoint/etc)
Games are a plus (don't really need windows games, probably with WINE about equal?)
Light
Cheap (I won't get paid for a couple months), in particular cheap right now
Any suggestions?
I guess I would prefer another OS X laptop. They seem to be the ideal mix of everything but cheap above. I have heard about getting a Dell Mini 10v or something, and installing OS X on it, but can't find the netbook very easily right now.

You want it a lot cheaper than the Air? Some Windows Ultrabooks got pretty good reviews and are slightly cheaper than the Air:

If you want a netbook, I heard great things about the Lenovo Thinkpad x120e (and contrary to the Air, you can easily make upgrades. Changing the hd for example)

Or the HP Pavilion dm1z

How did they know that the problem was water damage?

Apparently they can tell when you take it in to get fixed.
There are so many computers that get damaged by water that they have little strips that trip on any moisture.
Probably a lot of the time they trip and the laptop is fine....

Glad to hear you didn't buy the Thinkpad x120e. I bought one... and its a netbook with a great keyboard. Honestly, its the only positive thing I can say about it. Its noisy, the screen sucks, its too small, the quality is poor (I had to open the case to reconnect the keyboard to the mobo)... I'll be selling it.
Meanwhile, I got myself a 13 inch Macbook Air. Frankly, its one of the best computers I ever owned. The screen is great: its glossy, but not distracting. It doesn't make a peep, the SSD is super sweet and I love the trackpad. However, Mac OS X takes some time to get used to. If you only use the mouse, the Windows 7 GUI is superior IMO. The Dock is meh, some buttons are hard to hit with the mouse (they're too small) and Exposé sucks. Fortunately, there's Alfred, so I don't have to use the dock, and there are plenty of keyboard shortcuts. Windows switching is still somewhat of a pain however. cmd-tab doesn't behave like the Windows ctrl-tab, and, unfortunately, the OS X equivalent (cmd-tilde IIRC) doesn't work on my keyboard.
