    Anyone else playing Open TTD?

    I find myself totally addicted.

I played a substantial amount of it single-player prior to its first "full" release, back when it still relied on a number of Transport Tycoon files.

(I actually own the Deluxe version even.) I've downloaded the last few releases, but haven't gotten around to installing let alone playing it... with Thanksgiving weekend upon us, for you and I and others living in Canada , I may finally do just that. The pre-1.x versions certainly had me feeling a need to see a newer release of TT come about, and am hoping for a similar if not even stronger sentiment now.

      You will be pleasantly surprised.

They have kept the feel of the original while providing better signals and a lots of useful management tools.
      .
There are a lot of mods available too that can make the game totally different.

I played this game as an elementary school kid, and I find myself totally back into it.

I played a lot of TTDPatch and even did some work on US train set.
With my new screen I can't play OpenTTD without extra zoom levels, and they aren't done yet.

OpenTTD is enjoyable for a while, I'll play it here and there occasionally. It doesn't take me too many games to tire of it though -- it seems like every game I end up making the same moves.

Yeah, I end up doing the same things too.

              The devil is OpenTTD?

                Transport Tycoon on steroids.

It's really good, but as Jonny said, it's enjoyable for a while and then you kind of get tired of it.

I loved Railroad Tycoon; I assume this is similar.

It's a bit different; you have to build your networks tile-by-tile, while in RRT, IIRC. you just drag the rail, and the path is laid out automatically.

You have to try NewGRFs (that is, mods).

I got a bit lost, but then tried a couple.

Some don't seem to work with OpenTTD, only TTDPatch, which is annoying.
