In Norway and Europe as a whole, Spotify has revolutionized music listening. With the economic model Spotify Open(free, advertizements between every X song), Spotify Unlimited (4.99 pound, no advertizements, double music quality) and Spotify Premium (9.99 pound, and in addition to the above the ability to play from your phone/tablet/etc and to store songs offline on your device), it has had huge success and has a large share of the music market. It's number of paying customers in Europe(most use the free version yet) grew ca 300% throughout 2010.

And now it is coming to the US. Check out this page to sign up for an invite.

I can fully recommend Spotify, I have Premium and listen to so much music it's probably dangerous.

True, but if I understand correctly with Spotify one can select songs directly, instead of just "songs like x", which can be a plus. (OTOH, I've discovered a lot of cool stuff I hadn't heard of before with Pandora.)

Besides, I occasionally bump up against Pandora's free monthly listening limit, so it's nice to have a backup service.

The free version comes with a 10hrs/month limit.

Spotify Open has a limit, that's true. But if you are invited from an existing user, you get Spotify Free, which does not have this limit. That's how it worked before at least.

I still have 37 invitations left, but there is a limitation I'm afrad: "If you have an invitation, you can invite friends to Spotify Free if they live in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK, France, Spain or The Netherlands." Probably will be extended to the US when it launches officially.
