    Not yet.
We werent sure whether that was the best way of tackling things. We wanted to look into other, better possibilities of connecting, but at the moment that is the best that 2K/Firaxis will allow to do.

So please join the Apolyton Steam Group here
    , its named "Apolyton".

I'm going to look into a vB plugin that links Apolyon to Steam somehow as well.

Why did you name it "Apolyton (Civ5 MP)"?

Good idea! Gonna definitely do that. Hopefully the achievements in general are "interesting" enough to share with others.

I hope that its gona be used for more than that. If it is just MP, then it is useless for me (never played and never will be playing Civ MP game)

We will make full use of what is has to offer. What that is or will in the end be is tough to say now.
Just roll with it and see whether it provides anything for you.

I'm interested, if for no other reason, to see how many hours of play the members stack up in the next month or so. I don't know whether I want to feel better knowing others are as obsessed as I am or if my competitive nature will kick in and inspire me to log more hours and beat the average.

I'll be happy to be in the top 25%. Although you should understand I'll have a 40 or so hours played before you even start, since you're in the UK right?

I am looking forward to that, seeing high scores compared across the board.

And thank you for reminding me of what I miss most from SMAC... if only Civ V would have an "Iron Man" option...

Sounds good to me. I love multiplayer, but I really quite enjoy single player civ too if I can compete with other people in some manner

Do you mean ranking for MP portion? Or there is a way to rank SP portion as well?
Also, do you think that you may integrate the website with STEAM info? So that we could link our accounts here and there? (But only after you will implement my suggestion of slight modification of the site logo )

First of all: MP rankings of all sorts.

But we definitely are looking into generally hooking Steam and the Apolyton group to the site in order to display achievements and other SP stats.

Nice job! I joined the group as well (Beatie_holland)

Now for the steam haters....steam is not that bad is it? We can play together more easy than before. And look to stats about each other. Me like

Ohhh wait every can see now what a worthless "dan Quale" player I am Well as long as you enjoy the game. MP civ is something I realy like, but on the other hand, in SP my turns can sometimes take 15 min (if I play it like I want). I realize you have to change your style to play MP. Automate lots of things can help. But still if you have like 20 units to move, and can take up some time, and if the time limit is like 2 min.. it's getting hard to get that. hmm don't tell me, you have to give orders when it's not your turn....

It takes a period of adjustment, but you can learn a lot from "having to" move faster. Your are forced to learn some stuff to be able to move fast enough but you become a better player often by doing that. Once youve adjusted its the same game just with a human as an opponent.

So...no need for a separate ladder system, right?

Either way, this is great news.

There is a lot of need for that, because Steam is super rudimentary here if it provides anything real at all.
We developed ranking algorythms based on our experience from civ MP which are suited to handle daily play unlike whats been there before for civers. We have combined rankings and separate rankings for each game type... Just stay patient a little bit longer and youll see for yourself

The steam-integration tool fails at our test-server, so no update there yet. But I'll continue to work on it.
