Only had it two years. Ran it at stock clocks. Was extremely well ventilated. No excuse for a $600 video card to die like that. None.

That's better, but it still leaves the GPU as a possible culprit.
As for RMA, my RMA'd WD HDD died 10 months after I got it. It's twin is still going good, but it's making me burn stuff to media before acquiring more (and my processor can't handle HD decoding, so it's not even that much). What are the best brands for HDDs nowadays?
As for the 5850, how large is the box? I'm considering getting a videocard smuggled over here... If they are willing to bring it over it might save me a lot of money.

It's fairly small. Can't remember the exact dimensions. Much smaller than the 5870 and 5970.

Asher have you tried the 5850 in a dual monitor setup? Have you tried outputting HDMI audio? (e.g. connecting one of the ports to your receiver)
Any driver issues?

I haven't put it in a dual monitor setup yet, but I'm debating going three. Nor have I used the HDMI or DisplayPort it comes with.
For driver issues, Mass Effect doesn't have its anti-aliasing applied unless I force it on every game in the Catalyst Control Centre, which isn't too surprising. Unreal Engine 3 games are wonky like that. For my old card I needed to download nHancer and make a game profile with some hex-based compatibility code to force AA in Mass Effect.
There's also some texture shimmering issues in LOTRO but it's still quite rare there. The next drivers come out sometime this week, so I'll see if those resolve them.

I take back everything I said about eVGA.
I decided to try out the "lifetime warranty" thing, 3 years after I bought the card. They honoured it. Not only did they honour it, they replaced my 8800 Ultra with a GeForce GTS 260...a significant upgrade.
