I like the idea of shorter benches, drafting the lessor players has never been a favorite past time of mine.

I wonder how the current standings match up to the draft order. Is draft order that crucial?

And we could do reoccurring as most players would return and those that need to be swapped out would just have to contend with that draft slot. For instance if Duke does not come back then the noobie gets the first pick.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

I don't regard draft order as crucial at all. Some people feel like they've been screwed when they pick last, but I kind of like it personally and have done well from that position. With 14, I think drafting early may be more problematic, as your #2 pick is theoretically no better than #28 overall. But then again, you get 3 of the top 29...

I doubt there's much correlation between draft position and actual standings, but I've never looked at it.

I picked in the middle of D/ST and have failed miserably. I don't think it matters where you pick.

Yea, it's more about the decisions you make in the draft and the moves you make going forward.

    And then, there's also luck.

Yeah, right now draft order is killing me. It doesn't matter how solid the rest of your draft picks are, if they've got someone like MJD putting up 30+ points.

Yeah, looking at Yahoo, it appears that NONE of the 3-week playoff options includes any sort of consolation bracket.

I've seen consolation games appear in other seasons when the settings seemed to say they would not. But this seems pretty clear in the Yahoo league setup options. And, might I add, it sucks.

Looks like 8 of us have only two weeks left.

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving to all...

I won't participate if it's not via yahoo. I'm in three leagues and that's fanatical enough. Thanks for offering, though.

    Advice ---

Do I start Ray Rice vs Pit this week or Ricky Williams vs Buffalo?

Ricky has the bigger upside and better matchup, but Ray has been money for 15 points every week no matter what.

    Am I overthinking this?

Ray Rice didn't have that great a week last week.

It would be exactly the same as yahoo, except I'd take the points at the end of the week, and folks would post their starting lineup in the thread.

Ricky. I don't have Rice, but even if I did, I'd be starting Ricky.

sure Ben, if you wanna do that... When we get our final standings you can start a new thread devoted to a consolation bracket and let the 6 participants know. I might be one of them Cant afford any more losses in either poly league. I'm pretty sure its too late to change that in our league settings, but its worth a look anyway...

Hell, why not a consolation bracket with 8 people - no byes

I'm favored this week. You probably haven't noticed, but I'm usually not. I'm not really sure how to think about it.

You were favoured last week by 10, and then Ricky put you another 20 over. I managed to get about 2/3rds that back in the end.

Anyhoo, predictions for this week, (went 4-3). 11-10 over the last 3 weeks.

Just going to be bare bones for now, but I'll flesh them out later. Did I mention how much I hate, hate, hate Thursday games?

Jedibolts (7) over Mountain Goats (4)

Two teams headed in opposite directions. Jag towards a playoff spot, and Ben out of contention. For once, I'm favoured here. After the initial set of games, Jag drops another 6 points, and I hold steady wrt to the projections, leaving Jag DOWN 16 at the moment. He's got quite a few difficult matchups this week as well, Forte against the Vikings, Santonio against the Ravens, and McNabb against Washington. The only tough matchup I have is Colston vs NE, I still haven't decided who I'm going to run on WR. All three have issues at the moment as it looks like Jackson. may be injured. For the first time, I'm strong enough at RB to run RB2 and RB3, we'll see if that shakeup has an impact on my team.

Prediction, Jag's defense will continue to be totally studly to make up for his offense. I stay the course for another week, and grind out a win by about 10, 142-132.

Calamitous Intent ( vs Dallas Dwarf Tossers (2)

Slight advantage here to Slowwy. I have Guy at DOWN 9 right now, based on the projections. I'm loving the matchups on both sides. 14.55 points for Sproles against KC? I don't think he'll reach 5. AP and Ricky will put this away for Slowwy, and he'll win by about 20, 155-135.

    Da Boyz vs DDD

Romo's great night isn't quite enough to make up the difference as he threw to Miles Austin. I have Da Boys at DOWN 6 based on the projections. He's narrowed the match by about a point, but DDD still has the lead. Will the Brady Bunch expose the NO pass D, or will they overcome him? This match won't be decided until Monday, I figure DDD takes this by a couple points and edges out da boys

    142-140.

    Deviations vs. Forte's Firemen

Firemen seem to have a destiny for the top score all season here. Too bad for the Deviations who have an excellent week at 160, and aren't even in the same ball park. 200-160 for Forte who is already at UP 38 in this blowout. You know you are happy when Knowshawn racks up 16...

    EPW vs Hairball Express:

6 Tak, 1 Ast, 1.0 Sacks, 2 INT, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery for a TD, 4 passes defensed and 18 return yards.

And it's STILL not enough to put him over. He's DOWN 3 to EPW at the moment, where Miles Austin had an excellent night. This could have been a blowout, but I still think EPW will hold at 145-140. This one will all come down on that IND-HOU game with Schuab and Wayne. If Indy can shut down the Houston offense, then EPW will drop a shocker.

Priapic Love Wow vs Belichick Magnets.

Thanksgivings brought a 6 point shift in Love Wow's favour. BM is likely to have a disappointing night tonight, but, it's simply not going to matter. Love wow goes down to the wire in their quest for 0-13. 130-110

    Vicious Rabbits vs Topeka Twisters:

My personal match of the week, this one will go down to the wire. I predicted taht JR would win, and I still think he'll squeak through. Cutler will likely be playing from behind and should rack up the yardage in garbage time. This will probably make all the difference to his team.

    155-150

Yeah, good play, with Harris going down, they've got no one else.

You are still up by 5, but now you are in a dogfight.

Schaub at Indy and MJD against SF are tough, tough matchups.

I really hope Farve kicks your ass, I did this trade solely for this week.
