I'm constantly surprised at how little data that I use from T-Mobile. There are so many hotspots around nowadays. Home, office, cafes, etc.

Going to go on record as saying Apple is in some trouble unless they do some major redesigns of the OS and the hardware within a year or so.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yeah, it's not a huge deal but it's still a big enough deal for me to be a deal breaker for my primary phone.
Plus it's only got a 4GB SD card in there...I need 32 or so like in the iPhone.

After using the phone a lot and loving it, there's only one glaring weakness: multimedia. It's a shame that such a nice screen is partly wasted because you can't really run any video on it. Overall, the multimedia is not well thought out or integrated.
Because of this, it seems like at least the Nexus One doesn't really compete with the iPhone -- dissimilar markets.

What do you mean you can't run any video on it?
It supports H.263, H.264, MPEG-4 SP...just like iPhone. It supports up to 720p.

What containters does it support?

Asher: What player app are you using?

Erm, seriously? Could be far, far more useful then this. We're also going to integrate with barcode scanners. The idea is you scan a barcode with the app and it'll tell you nearby businesses that sell that type of item (and, hopefully, plug in to Amazon/Google Product search to show lowest/average prices).
You've basically turned a phone into a wisard.
Scouse Git (2) LaFayette Adam Smith and Solomwi you will be missed

I don't expect you to comprehend that I get paid to make apps for the company I work for, not random apps I want.

We've got both kinds

3G support is useless for me. Russian military occupies the required frequencies, so we will never get 3G here, and GPRS is bloody expensive. And people know how to protect their WiFi access points here. I'd kill for a Nexus One with 4G support. WiMAX is growing like bamboo here.

Bought a Nexus One.
1) How do I get it to show how many characters left are there in a text message? I don't want to pay for two texts when I can pay for one.
2) When its screen switches off the only way I can switch it back on is by pressing a power button. Is there a simpler way?

1) Not sure
2) No, because then it'd accidentally turn on when in the pocket

Sprint and Verizon dropped Nexus One...any thoughts Asher?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?
:(){ :|:& };:

Not at all surprised -- the HTC Incredible is essentially the same phone with some slight upgrades (mostly to the camera). Verizon is carrying that instead, Sprint will probably carry it soon.

Nexus One is an elite phone. Only badasses have it, such as myself.
You can only buy it from Google these days.
Mainstreamers use the Motorola Droid.

And in just the other thread you mocked me for my cell phone elitism. The difference is I have a phone few people have because it's expensive, while you have one that few people have because it's expensive and horrible.

I never mocked you for elitism. That was one of my DLs.
Check YOUR facts.

So the Moto Droid is the way to go for android nowadays?

Android 2.2 will allow users to make their phones portable wifi hotspots
http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/13/exc...oid-2-2-froyo/
Google added a plastic desert sculpture of a frozen yogurt outside of their Android building today (here’s Eclair, the last version), indicating the imminent arrival of the next version of the Android operating system, Android 2.2, AKA Froyo.
In addition to full Flash support and a whopper of a speed improvement, we’ve just confirmed something that’s even more stunning. Froyo will have built in USB tethering so you can share your data connection with your laptop, something Apple and AT&T still haven’t managed to allow in the U.S. And even better: you can turn your Android phone into a portable wifi hotspot as well.
You can see the tethering and wifi hotspot features in the screenshots above. One thing that isn’t clear from the information we’ve received is whether carriers can turn this feature off, or even charge for it, unless they break away from the standard Android build.
This is, of course, terrific news for Android users. I still believe Android phones, paired with Google Voice, are the closest thing to mobile nirvana to date. With tethering and wifi hotspot features, Apple and others have some serious catching up to do.
Expect Froyo to officially launch no later that the Google I/O event next week. And we’ll have Vic Gundotra, Google’s VP responsible for product management and marketing for mobile products, on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt the week after next.
