  • Could Canada ever become a superpower?

Well? If I remember correctly they have a pop of around 30 mil? What are population projections for Canada in the 21st century? Will they reach 100?
If they do, wouldn't their country (being a developed economy and having a fair amount of energy resources) become a major power?

And then suppose that something happens to the US? If Canada annexed some of the former US territory it could reach something like 200 million and with a poplation like that could it become a new superpower?

BTW When will Canada surpass Russia (which currently has a declining population and will go below 100 million sometime this century)?
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

The USA is growing faster, IIRC.

So no, Canada will never be a superpower.

Fact: Christians are far more likely to hit up whores. Sexual repression leads to all kinds of dangerous behaviour, including gambling.

That's true, look at any casino parking lot and you will see a ton of Utah license plates.

                    ACK!

I would think there would be many cars from any bordering state. It's not that big of a mystery.

the whole Jesus land is blown out of proportion. It didn't seem that bad when i lived down there. Virginia was the worst though. No strip clubs. Although the funny thing is now I'm back in a state with strip clubs, I have no desire to see them. It was only when we didn't have access to them, I wanted to go to them.

And Florida isn't really a southern (as in religious conservative) state anymore. Hasn't been for decades.

Unlike the US, we have Euro style birthrates on top of the highest immigration levels anywhere. We are mostly a cold and thinly populated nation.

The projections in the 21st century have us being one of the stronger western powers, but our population probably won't ever hit 40 million. It might reach 35, but that's about it.

If they do, wouldn't their country (being a developed economy and having a fair amount of energy resources) become a major power?
No. Too thinly populated. The US has 10 times our population, and will only continue to take a greater role. Canada could take a far bigger role, but we have not got the inclination to make the most of what we have. We'd much prefer to leech and piggyback off the US, because it's easier.

And then suppose that something happens to the US? If Canada annexed some of the former US territory it could reach something like 200 million and with a poplation like that could it become a new superpower?
If anything, people would prefer the opposite annexation of Canada to the US.
