    Ghost of Disco. This has inspired me to have a go at modifying Alexandre Ostrowiecki's other scenario 'Yom Kipur -Day of Treason 1973' (unless you are already planning to do so yourself!). I just played a little bit and the Israelis take quite a first turn battering from the Arabs.

    Here is the page for Alexandre Ostrowiecki's Yom Kipur -Day of Treason 1973 scenario. Looks like this mod marks the scenarios tenth anniversary year



    As well as a general graphics mod I fixed up the spelling and grammar a little and changed some of the units to more historically accurate ones (IE Su-17 in place of B-22 Minsk, T-72 in place of T-40 and Arab Mech Inf. in place of Arab Cavalry!). Now I have finished with my tinkering I am going to have a go at crushing the Israelis

    I will download the files and test them. EDIT: Just downloaded the files, unzipped them as they were and played it OK. Very strange!

    Has anyone else tried this mod yet and if so have they had any problems?

    Ghost, did the original unmodified scenario work?

    Does it crash when you double click on the scenario file or at another point?

    It has very good aspect your mod McMonkey. This evening - night, which I have all the time of the world I go to putting to playing it.

    I am going to order a new version to industrial units of the units of Fairline of Usamerica Civil War, because I discovered that with a small modification the horses stay more "realistic" and stylized... To seeing if you like it.

    Yes, it crashes immediately on loading. Usually, it's a missed comma or something similar in a text file, but I've replaced all the text files with Nani's originals and it still crashes. I replaced the graphics files in his original scenario with yours, and it works fine. Very nice look to a classic scenario, McM.

    So the graphics are causing the crash!? I have never heard of that happening before. They are all gifs which I think is correct. Any idea which one is causing the problem and why? I'm not sure I can solve this problem as it is working fine for me. Could someone try and find the fault so I can then upload the working files to the SL Site?

    Not at all. The graphics are fine. I moved your graphics into the original scenario, and everything works. I think its the scn. files themselves. Did you resave them? Or did you hex edit them or something like that?

    No, I didn't hex edit or alter the save. I did edit the Rules and Events files but I tested them and they work fine for me. I did notice that the original events file had a load of 'Create Unit' events where the home city was USA or World both of which don't exist. I changed all these to NONE in my modified files. I also swapped some of the unit names for more accurate ones but I went through the events file methodically to make sure everything matched. Once I had finished with the changes I stopped getting the 'Error in events file' type message when I began the scenario.

    Ah, do I need to Delevent the events file? I guess the scenario may be reading the old events still. Not sure why this would work for me and crash for others though. Would you mind giving it a go please Tech or Ghost?

    I discovered the problem. I tried substituting each of your files into the original scenario, one at a time, including the 3 Scn. files. It worked even when all files had been switched.

    It's the long-winded name you gave the scenario folder. Too many characters. I changed the folder name to Yom Kippur 2, and it works just fine. Mystery solved!

    Doh! That's how I name all the the scenarios on my hard drive so I know who the author is and it doesn't cause me any problems so it did not occur to me that this could be the cause. I will rename the files and re upload them. Thanks for taking the time to solve this problem Tech. I will remember it in future!

    Ghost, how is the Exodus mod coming along?

    It's pretty good. I think I've modified all the unit graphics and such. I've got it zipped, I just need to upload it.

    Also, I made a graphics update for our_man's "How Few Remain." I thought about doing some other things, such as giving each civ its own MG unit, for example, or giving sounds to the generals, but for now it's just graphics:

    As you said though, the best way to work it out is by copying someone else's page and editing it to fit. Make sure you add a section for the author too.

    I find the scenario somewhat anemic, which is typical of many MGE scenarios. The weak events language makes it difficult to generate enough units in changing circumstances. If someone did a ToT conversion, I might find the time this summer to do a new set of events to spice it up a little.

    (edit - never mind. There are just too many issues, common amoung scenarios of this time. Wandering units of the US and Jordan getting in the way is a major pain, and the map is too narrow among other things. It was an excellent scenario for its day, but not up to today's standards. However, an excellent subject for a new ToT scenario sometime in the future, perhaps.)

    Did some playtesting, and there seemed to be some problems with the Mexican flag. However, I think I fixed them, as seen below. (Also did some unit modifications.)

    I should also mention that I finally uploaded the Exodus II graphics and text mod to the site. Download it and tell me what you think!

    Ghost, when I try to unzip the Exodus folder I get a message saying there is already a folder with the same name. If I skip this I get asked if I want to copy it without encryption. I try this and I do get a folder with the files but there is also a folder called "_MACOSX" with a load of other files called things like "._Units.bmp". This is all very unusual!

    I tried extracting the files using 7-Zip (which I use to unzip .rar files) instead of the usual "Extract All..." option I use for normal zipped files and it seems to work OK though there is the same "_MACOSX" folder.

    I'm a bit confused really. I had the same issues when I downloaded the files from a few posts above too.

    Aside from this, the graphics look excellent and I will have a go at the scenario tonight
