    Congrats cresentfresh!
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I won with a Diplo Victory. United Nations. The first post is incorrect. It was not domination.

Can't seem to upload my replay file here, and just deleted all my saved games over the weekend. I got off to a really slowww start. Built stonehenge, and got beat to every other early wonder. Only had 2 cities and just planted the third (to claim the bottleneck entrance to the landmass to the west) JUST as Joao's settler was about to claim the spot. France attacked repeatedly. I built my Heroic Epic over on that western land mass and built up military to finally hit back and drive France off the continent and vassalize them.

Typical inefficient gameplay by me. Switched victory plans a number of times. Reacted to other civs too much instead of sticking to a plan. Joao was the leader all game. He got every wonder until I got sistene chapel in 1515, just hoping to deny Joao an easy culture victory. got Hollywood, RocknRoll, and Eiffel tower, but was clearly not going to beat J culturally. Thought about Space, but J beat me to 3 Gorges Dam, and J had the production cities to beat me to space.

Decided to prepare to attack J, but........Had no oil. Went over to Monty's continent and took 4-5 cities and vassalized him. That put me on Ragnar's good side. Somehow stayed on good terms with everyone enough to win a diplo vic through the UN, before I even had a chance to build up enough to attack J.

I think I was planning to try a last ditch attack to raze his top culture city while keeping him from getting the space race. Likely not possible. The Diplo Vic was a surprise.
