    Congrats everyone!

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

          Congratulations to playshogi!
In this game I realized a mistake I always did:
I played the game like a single game, or demogame,or multiplayer game, that is,
against the other civs and barbs; never disabled science on the slider to be ready
to quickly answer any possible invasion, and so.
This type of games must be played for the score, "against our own civ" played by other
          players.
          Best regards,

This game was so easy that I actually inquired as to whether the novice game had been uploaded by mistake. I had decided when I found out that I was on this huge continent with only 1 other AI, to declare war early and just park a few units in his cities. This would prevent it from expanding, enabling me to settle the rest of the continent in relative peace. The last thing I wanted was to fight a major war for continental control required by the scenario. Lincoln proved to be most incompetent as I was very slow in getting a couple axemen over there. When they got there about 1000BC, Lincoln had just 2 cities and when I declared war with 2 axemen in the neighborhood, I found his capital defended by just 1 warrior. Two turns later Washington was captured. I marched my formidable force of 2 axemen to New York and again faced warriors. I decided to not kill the AI right away, but to take potshots at warriors and so create a Great General. In 700BC or so, Lincoln got his first archer, requiring me to send more troops, but the end result was never in doubt. Barbs were plentiful, but just a minor distraction. What was unusual was I encountered no barb archers, only melee units.

The rest of the game was just the usual builder game as the scenario required settling all the land in one's quadrant. With no AI opposition this was trivial. Another factor that led me to believe this was not emperor was that I was building most of the wonders. This caused a problem because I started to pop Great Prophets when for a culture win you'd really prefer Great Artists. So, I built 4 shrines for the 4 religions I had just for the points. I don't know how the result would be if someone won the game in 1720 with 40,000 points or if someone conquered 2 quadrants and won the game in 1930 with 150,000 points, but I think the most points wins Tri-League games. Besides building wonders I didn't need, I built a few extra cities on the main continent not needed for cultural control, but just for the extra population for the sole purpose of boosting score. I decided that the island group to the southeast was part of 'my quadrant' and so I spent the last part of that game putting cities on these island while the culture grew in my 3 cities. I could have won the culture game much sooner, if I didn't think it was necessary to do this.

I like the scenario design though. Having a secondary goal can possibly change your normal strategy and provide a different playing experience.

While the game was set up in the same way as other Tri-League games - it does seem as though something went a bit "wonky". However it would/should have been the same for all Advanced players. I did appreciate you asking the question however

It would depend on the victory conditions set - however in this one you are correct.

One of the reasons I set the no more than two quadrants rule, was to try and avoid players effectivelly killing everyone else off and cruising to a culture vic.

Thanks - we may look at other ways of doing this kind of thing in other games in the future. Not too many as it can get a bit annoying for players who just want to play.
