Firefox help - stored usernames and passwords

So, FF happily remembers most of my stored usernames and passwords on its own.

However, there are a few sites that for whatever reason, FF won't automatically prompt with user/pass storage.

Is there any way to tell FF that every time it loads up page A, I want it to sign me in using username B, and password C?

Thanks in advance for your help! to the Poly Oracle! (Doubles the effects of all Poly Temples)

Send me your account names and passwords. I'll set it all up for you.

Tools-> options -> privacy at the top... at the bottom it says 'private data'. Check your 'settings' and see if it keeps cookies, as well as the 'clear data when close firefox' checkbox.

Three innuendo-free topics: computers, science, and law. This is computers.

Okay, let's see. Cookies are not being kept. Data is NOT being cleared when I close FF.

    What should I do?

I am guessing that Firefox guesses which fields are login/password by the field name in the HTML code. So if the fields are not named in a way that Firefox can guess, then Firefox would not know to remember them.

My guess would be that either the sites disable automatic password storage (autocomplete=off), or they don't have their username/password boxes set up properly for Firefox to recognize them. I assume you have checked the list of 'exceptions' under tools -> options -> security in the password manager box?

Can you tell us some of the sites?

Poly wouldn't save my password until I kept cookies, so that's my 2 @@. Of course be wary of what sites you want to keep.

I think she is talking about the password manager, not about cookied logins. But it is not entirely clear. Perhaps AC should clarify

Yeah cookied logins work normally. Some sites (like my law school webmail) don't seem to let FF memorize the name and password. This is really annoying, because they make me change my damn password every time the entrails are wrong (or some other equally arbitrary phase of time) and I cannot be arsed to remember my own passwords for myself.

There was one time, way back in Journalism school, when the admin was the Campus Tech Services office. They wanted me to have a password at least 8, not more than 32, with some alphabets, some caps, some lowercase, some numbers, and some special symbols.

I was so irritated that I set it to

Law school webmail sounds like a site that might disable autocomplete

And secure passwords are for your own safety... Just put a secure file somewhere on your machine with an innocuous name, password-protect that file, and put all of your passwords in it

Or find an add-on that lets you bypass that security element, of course, though you might find it's against school policy.

    Example: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8542
